Straight typing or edit?
The rate of pay changed many years ago, anyone who's been transcribing for the past 15 years knows that. Eight cents isn't fantastic but I'd say a little better than average these days. Focus on quality of management, steady work, flexible hours. Those 8 cents can add up fast with the right program.
