IT is not simply a text expander. It sounds like you haven't learned to use commands in IT. You can create command entries to delete words, change punctuation, change one word to another, anything you do repetitively. The Instant Text manual and forums describe this.
By the way, you can export with the Workshop, but if you switch to some lesser software, you are crippling yourself, IMHO.
