This year in particular there's been an explosion of IC MT jobs because of Nuance.

I think at the end of this year when low-paid MTs find themselves owing thousands in taxes things are going to change.

It's going to be a huge financial mess for some MTs who don't realize what a hit they're about to take on taxes and self-employment tax. Are they going to continue to dig themselves into an IRS hole with low pay and no benefits?

Naahhhhhhh ... no one is going to accept low-paid IC status shortly when they realize what a bad deal it really is.

The MTSOs hiring all ICs now are making hay while the sun shines, so they don't really care what happens next year as long as they make their bread right now. They have nothing to lose by hiring ICs, ZERO responsibility at the end of the day.
