help please - ortho - mt3

Posted: Feb 23, 2012

Examination shows that her neck is tender over the lower? cervical spine anteriorly and laterally on the right and left.  Motion is good in the neck.

Isn't the neck in the upper cervical spine?  I am burnt out today.  Thanks for any help.

I bet that's right. - JenX

I type this all the time. Yes, the cervical spine is the upper part of the whole spine itself, but each section of the spine can be broken down in upper, middle and lower parts. So, it would be normal for him to say lower cervical spine, just like he might also say upper lumbar spine. Hope that makes sense!

Oops! - JenX

Ha. I just re-read your question and I see what you're asking now and yeah you're right, but I still bet he's saying lower cervical spine. They say that a lot where I work.

thanks - mt3

I will go with that, then. Appreciate your help so much!
