I must have a neurological disorder - sm

Posted: Dec 11, 2012

I've been an MT for 31 years. I started in a hospital in 1981 and supervised the MT department. Over the years, I owned my own transcription company for 9 years, and have worked for all the big companies.

Here's my problem:  I can't understand all these abbreviations on MT Stars - ILS, NJA, OOW, you get the gist.  Before, when I've asked what something stands for I've been accused of being someone faking an MT, so I just don't ask anymore.

I get all the medical abbreviations/acronyms with no problem. I just don't get these because I don't feel I can ask without getting flamed. I feel so...inept. Cool

well, I don't know them all either, but - sm

NJA is no jobs available.

I am guessing OOW is out of work.

wonder if ILS is international!! language specialist. but don't know. Believe me, you're not alone. P.S. when you get flamed, just let it slide off your back like a duck. You don't know these folks and they're no doubt just miserable souls. Ask your questions, make your comments and you might even find your answer.

LOL. sm - Laughing Out Loud

First 3 pretty much mean the same thing: No work!
NJA: No Jobs Available (no work)
NSA: No Studies Available (no work)
OOW: Out Of Work (no work)

ILS: I don't know that one, but my guess would be Indian Language Specialists????

Which other ones do you need help with?
Thanks for the chuckle of the day. I needed this one considering pending meeting today.

p.s. The ones that I'm still trying to figure out are all the various ones for supervisor/manager...TSM, etc., and also the employee designations. They vary from company to company and even within these big MTSOs that have gobbled up other MTSOs.

OOW - out of work; NJA - no jobs available; - wannie

ILS - not sure. Hope this helps. Sorry you've caught flack for asking in the past.

OOW...That is the only one I am way to familiar with. - NTS MT
