Serious Inquiry Question - TooOldForThis

Posted: Nov 15, 2012

I recently started working for MMODAL... but I also have a part-time job elsewhere, and I will not say where, that is not relevant, but on my other part-time job they have different platforms and recently within the past year I think they started 'moving' some accounts to a platform called M-Modal, a couple of my account were moved there and eventually I am supposed to get moved there totally but I am not in any hurry as I like the platform I am currently on.  But my question for anyone that can answer me is this. is my part-time job affiliated with M-Modal perhaps, maybe M-Modal has outsourced some of its work to this company? Some of this is very confusing... I originally thought that Mmodal was just another platform until I started working for company called "M-MODAL" this is why I am asking. Anyone got any ideas on this.

I think MModal - sells their

platform, equipment, or whatever they call it to other companies. Just my opinion. I do not know for sure.

I think MModal - kittykat

MModal is a registered trademark. That does not make sense for them to sell their platform. A long time ago I asked a tech why companies were advertising and using DSQ and they said DSQ was not trademarked by Medquist, they bought the platform and other companies use it. This does sound fishy, though.

Actually, I think they lease it to other MTSO, not sell it. - nm

Not yet, but it is coming. My bought out MTSO started using - MM platform, at that time Medquist. SM

Couple years later, they bought us out. I think they "sell" the platform to other mid size MTSO as a foot in the door and then swoop in for the kill with buy-out big bucks, for the owner, that is.

A buy out doesnt happen in a week. It takes place over months. - When MM makes known they want SM

to buy MTSO, takes a while to go through the books to check producetion, revenue, expenses, etc. And I think MM instructs MTSO on how to tweak their end of the business to make a transition as seamless as possible. So I think, MM is talking to your employee, getting ready for the buy-out. They have to tell you when it is a done deal and at that point, you get a choice if whether you want to work for MM or not.

okay let me see if I get this straight - TooOldForThis

If my other partime job company is using the MMODAL platform for some of their clients, then this is a way for the MMODAL company to have their 'foot in the door' to eventually buy them out and I may soon be told that they have been bought out and I am working for MMODAL TWICEEEE.. how would that work??

Yeah, that is how I think it works. I wonder if MM doesnt even slowly - raise the lease rate so MTSO more likely SM

to be willing to take the buy out money. And I thnk MM "advises" the MTSO on how to tweak their business practice to increase MTSO share, and squeeze as much out of the MT as possible.

You wont be told you are working for MM. You will be asked if you - want to work for MM. If your answer, is SM

no, they will wish you all the best in your future endeavors and show you the door.
But I am already working for MM - TooOldForThis

so if my other partime job gets bought out by MM, do I keep my payrate I have with them, cuz I get 4.5 cpl for speech rec... it's great pay and I can do over 300 lines an hour or moreee.
you never can tell - still at my old rate

When they bought Spheris, we got to keep our old rate. Of course that could change tomorrow. There's no reason to start worrying about it now.

Raise Inquiry
Jan 10, 2013

So I'm farily new-ish to MM and MT in general. MM hired me as a complete newbie about 9 months ago, and I accepted the rates they gave me (0.04 VR and 0.05 TR) because I was desparate for a job. Based soley on my memory, the person who offered me the job stated that there would be a consideration for a raise after 90 days. Okay, fine, whatever, I just want a job. Well, 9 months later I am still making the same rate. I haven't brought up the issue because I like to fly under the radar. ...

Response To Email Inquiry About VA Accounts
Aug 14, 2013

My understanding, according to conversations with several people at the Department of Labor in several states, is that anyone working on a VA contract must have employee status and must be paid the wage determination rate, or prevailing wage, for the state and county in which the client (or VA facility) is located.  It does not matter what the wage determination rate is for the state and county in which you reside.  Therefore, if you work on several different VA accounts, there may be ...

Hello, We are preparing to switch to editing and are working on a fair guidelines for the MTs.  What are the industry standards of expections for things such as correcting if a dictator says something like "laboratory studies" and the draft comes through as "laboratory data" - do you correct it or leave it?  What about things like numbers that begin a sentence?  Correct or let it go?  Any advice you can give would be appreciated.  ...

Pay Not Right For The Second Week, Payroll Never Answered My Inquiry
Jun 17, 2015

This is the second week my pay has been incorrect.  They did not pay me the shift differential.  I have already emailed my TSM and payroll, no answer from payroll (email was sent days ago about pwe 6/5).  This is added to the fact that on the Powerscribe platform there is NO WAY for us to track our lines anyway, so we all have to guess whether or not we're being shorted (although they clearly did not add the shift diff as no column exists on either of my time sheets).  T ...
