Registered MT? - LOL

I'm having a hard time believing the legitimacy of this ad. I have never bothered to get certified much less "registered."

There actually is such a thing. If you go to the AHDI website and look under the credentialing part, this is what they offer for credentialing:
Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS) Level 1
Certified Healthcare Documentation Specialist (CHDS) Level 2
I did not read the whole page and am not sure what you need to do do for either one, I just wanted to let you know that there is such a thing as a Registered MT. Hope that helps.

why on earth would I want to get registered or even certified with that particular organization and in this particular field? Brother. And for those people to insist on finding that one RMT in the entire nation, I wish them luck.

I agree with you, I wouldn't do it either. I feel that experience is the best "certification" there is. Just my personal opinion

Just wondering what the majority thinks about these career paths. It seems as though a lot of MTs are moving or considering a move to the RHIT/RHIA world of especially medical coding. I just followed some post on this board to a woman who has a medical transcription blog. She has followed the domains all the way back to 2002 and claims that this board is now owned and registered to someone in Pakistan and she has copies of the documents showing it right there on the site.
