Any tips on negotiating salary for an IC job. I'm out of practice with this sort of thing. Usuaully, it ends up with them dictating the pay, take it or leave it. Ugh.

[ In Reply To ..]I just recently got 2 cpl more per line than a physician wanted to pay, stating I do not outsource overseas at all and use only US-based transcriptionists to help me. This has worked on several occasions, and they appreciate that fact. This client was already familiar with my equipment and skills from transcribing his operative reports or I use that also.

Do any of you negotiate line rate, and if you have, has it been successful? I've tried, not worked or not gotten a call back. Is it advisable to do? After I take the test, I'm told I did great and am offered the job, then try to negotiate their abysmal offering. TIA ...
