Got my business card holder and new headphones today - TakingThePlunge

Posted: Feb 25, 2011

Website all up and running, business card holder ready for cards which should arrive in about 2 weeks, and loving the pink headphones my hubby ordered for me.

Speaking of..  Hubby went to neurosurgeon yesterday and mentioned I was an MT.  The doc asked him quite a few questions pertaining to what types of medical transcription I did.  Sounds to me like that neurosurgeon will be one of my first cold-calls I make to drop off my business card and letter of introduction...

Ironically, today Mr. Plunge and I were having Chinese food.  The reading on my fortune cookie was as follows (I kid you not, I almost fell over)...

YOU WILL DO WELL TO EXPAND YOUR BUSINESS.

Here's to a productive weekend for all of us...  Salute!

Sound Card, Headphones (ear Bud) Questions
Aug 09, 2011

I read the posts down a bit RE: sound cards, headphones, etc.  My head phones are falling apart so in the market again.  Couple things: * I didn't realized added sound cards would block out static, etc.  I know I can't download anything onto work computer, but a rough idea how much the other kind are? * People seem to pretty much agree the earpieces that go into the ear are better for sound; however, I think they are more likely to damage hearing (and age-related deafn ...

Phoenix Medcom - Business Card From Each IC
Jun 12, 2012

Phoenix Medcom requires a business card from each IC contracting with them.  I was an IC many years ago and didn't even have a contract then; have been an employee ever since that time.  So, do each of you who work as an IC have business cards?  And whose contract is it - yours of the company's?  Thanks.  (and if it's the IC's contract, where do you obtain that?) ...

Are Headphones With USB Better?
Apr 17, 2012

Really looking for crisper sound but also need volume (now using a sound booster) .  One of my accounts is ridiculously low volume, and I can barely hear with the booster and volume maxed. Do you feel USB headphones have better quality sound?  If so, can you get the volume as high as if using a booster? ...

Yes, I'm still here....Anyone use an air card for DQS, and if you do, how much memory is needed do you think to work an 8-hour shift?  I think this is a ridiculous question, and that air cards do not work well, but if you know from experience please respond!  Thanks. ...

Most Comfortable Headphones
Oct 15, 2009

Which headphones do you like the best in terms of comfort and quality? Some of the ones that fit inside the ears, the earbuds, make my ears sore. My boss suggested the noise-canceling kind that fit over the ears, but they are very expensive and they also look like they were be very heavy to wear. Any recommendations would be great, thank you. ...

Comfortable Headphones
Oct 18, 2009

I've always used just cheap stereo headphones but I want to try some of the ones that are made specifically for transcription. The problem is the kind that fit inside my ears can hurt, the ones that are more rounded buds and have foam on them. What headphones do you recommend that are comfortable inside the ear? I tried some recently from a fellow MT and I think they were made by Lanier but I can't remember, but they seemed comfortable. Is Lanier the best also for sound quality? I loo ...

Wireless Headphones
Sep 04, 2011

Does anyone have or know of where to get wireless headphones.  My cat has chewed through the wires of 3 sets of headphones (at $18 each its getting expensive).  After the first 2 sets I have been putting them in a drawer when not in use, but the cord sticks out of the drawer attached to the computer and she found her way around the box while I was watching TV and now my third set is gone.  Within seconds she chews right through the cord.  So, since there are wireless keyboard ...

Headphones Or Earphones
Oct 16, 2013

I'm new to transcription at home.  I have a pair of Spectra headphones I ordered from Amazon.com, but I'm doing transcription for a pathology account where there is a lot of background noise.  I don't want to spend $200, but are there any earphones or headphones that work really well for our line of work that aren't too expensive?   ...

What Type Of Headphones Do You Use? Why?
Nov 11, 2013

Another post got me wondering, what type of headphones / ear buds do you use and why? I, personally, switched to (in-ear) ear buds about 5 to 6 years ago.  I found a pair of Skull Candy (yes, odd name but good ear buds) that I loved and have used them since.  They have a lifetime warranty (which I've used a couple times just due to daily use, and have never had an issue).  I actually keep a backup pair in case they break, etc.  They're just the cheap ones, I belie ...

Headphones Good Set ?
Mar 02, 2015

I would like some good input on a "good" set of headphones.  I have used Bose QuietComfort in-ear headphones, which work fine, but I am looking for something with better clarity.  I have tried Sennheiser HD 598, but can hear others around me at times.  I am partially deaf in my right ear due to several ear infections in my adult years.  I want to see what other folks are using and decide which ones to purchase.  I look forward to your feedback and suggestions.
