Has anyone applied for or worked for TransPortal?

Ive worked for them for a few years - and like them

They dont have a high turnover, but they do have new accounts coming on and others that need more staffing, which is why they are hiring.

I love working for them, they pay on time, but no benefits. I like their accounts and work.

I was offered a job there not too long ago. The recruiter was really nice. I filled out all the paperwork and was ready to go. Then, it seems at the last minute, a printer was required (which I did not have at the time and said I will get one) And then, supposedly, I failed the HIPPA online test. In my opinion, they are really wishy washy. I took a lot of time with the tests and paperwork. Failing a HIPPA test? Sheesh! Who, besides me, has had to take a HIPPA (whatever) test when working at home. I was always accustomed to looking over a form and signing it. Just needed to vent! Thanks for reading.

I have worked with Transportal for several years and really like the company. We all have to take a HIPAA test prior to employment and yearly. The company is a great place to work and there is very little ESL dictators. Most of the work is straight typing. The pay is ALWAYS on time.

HIPAA class and test afterwards. It was an "open book" test, so don't know how one can fail it. Anyway, the ICs were deducted the $25 to pay for the class and test out of our biweekly pay checks. I did not like that part, as other companies were supplying the same thing for free. I still have the "completion certificates" even though I no longer work for them.

I worked for them briefly. They were really nice but the account I was on didn't have a way for me to check my line counts every day and so I NEVER knew what kind of lines I was typing or what pay I would get until my check arrived. I felt like the line counts weren't very good. After 14 years in this field I know what I can do in a day and the paychecks didn't add up to what I know I can type. Just saying!

Isnt HIPAA training mandatory now and most have tests - with the training

Transportal tests everyone every year, most companies do so - and because of the much more stringent penalties, I would say it would be and should be a requirement that you pass. I would think you would need to do this regardless of where you work.

I worked for them briefly and felt the pay was too low for the work required. I didn't like their system either. I'm sure there are lots of posts on this board. The owner of the company buys and sells these places, gets them up and going and then sells them off to someone else after a few years. He used to own Archivus and sold it to etransmedia and then turned around and started Transportal.

I have worked at clinics directly and for two of the mega services, but now have worked at TransPortal for two years. Great company with excellent management and support. Always pays on time and the accounts I work on have pretty good dictators with lots of work. Granted, no benefits, but I wasn't looking for that. Knowing that we will never earn the line rates that we used to make, I think TransPortal is an excellent employer with decent line rates and would recommend them highly.

Just got hired with them... and I'm on my last day of the first pay period... and let me tell you!!! If you get an offer... RUN!! It sounds good, but is far from it! Their sound files are horrible, they don't pay you any kind of training pay ( which I mistakenly MISSED on my part!! oops.. won't make that mistake again), and only give you LIMITED WORK while on QA review which amounts to like 200-300 lines a day!, and.... they have no account specifics whatsoever f ...

I am very good in orthopedics, have done quite a bit in my many years of transcription, did well on the tests as far as I could tell, but got an email that I didn't qualify. pay 8 cents a line? This is awfully low for an IC position isn't it? I mean, when you are IC don't you have to pay your own taxes and have no benefits at all? So in essence it's a lot less than 8 cents. Are they out of the their minds or is this how long IC jobs are paying now? Around 10 years ago when I considered an IC job it paid 13-15 cents a line to offset. ???? ...

i had a job interview with Transportal's recruiter this past week and one of the things she mentioned is the fact that they will require ICs to purchase Errors and Omissions insurance. She said that by February 2010 the government would be requiring all IC medical transcriptionists to have this coverage. I work for Transportal and recently one of my accounts went from drowning us with work to NOTHING. I haven't had any work now for over a week. My last 2 paychecks were just over $1000 each and now this paycheck will be just over $200!! I've asked supervisors/team lead about this multiple times and they claim to know nothing about it.
