Just FYI - "Kona Medical" is another scam - anon

Posted: Feb 08, 2014

Tip-offs are the same type of ads as the other scams, asking for "no experience", listing "Independent Contractor, Statutory Employee, Student, or Employee", gmail or yahoo accounts instead of a professional email address, and of course the typos.

SCAM??? - daddyspet

I just had an interesting "interview" yesterday with a company called WestMed Transcription Service, Inc. He was asking strange questions for a transcription job, like: What do you understand by''privacy, code of conduct and petty cash'' ? I had no idea why he was asking a petty cash question for a transcription job. His name was Mr. Drake Snow. I would love to know if anyone else had this pleasure. They would not answer any questions I asked and when I went back on the site where the job was posted (the very next day), it was gone.

You got scammed. Hopefully they didn't hack into your computer - nm

I had the same thing happen to me with Mr. Drake Snow. I too found the questions very strange for transcription. I dont know how far you went with the interview but at one point he told me they wod send me a $3500 check that i had to put in my bank account and then HE wod direct me to which vendors I needed to use to purchase what i needed. Would not answer my questions about how weird that was. And i googled this so called comapny that has been in business since 1997 and could not find a single thing on it. Has to be a scam.

I never got that far. I cut it short when none of my questions were answered. When I did say something about not being able to find the company on the Internet, he sent me a link for WestMed.com, which was a totally different name. He is still on Messenger and I am determined to find out how to report this and to whom.

I just interviewed with them also. Same question. I had different interviewer, though. He asked some appropriate questions but I still figured I should do some serious Google-ing before pursuing further.

Well, another thing that is strange is I also sent a resume to the one at Kona and the response I got was almost IDENTICAL to that from this company. I sent an email to MTDaily, but never got a response. Just be careful what you tell them. I just responded in my "interview" that I was not comfortable with the way things were going, so thanks, but no thanks.

Interesting, I guess - sm

Okay, there's a gmail address.  Lots of people use that.  I wouldn't go near gmail or anything Google myself, but now for the good stuff (emphasis added).

Tons of links will come up on any search engine detailing this, and other check scams. Read up on this. The victim not only has to pay the bank back for the amount of the phony check, but also has to pay overdraft fees and other assorted fees, your checking/saving account can be closed, and you can even be charged with fraud.

Question about interview - sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I'm not familiar with an interview being conducted on IM, is this now common place? I have had interviews by phone or in person only. I never had a Skype interview either. I have had my share of scam attempts over the years, like the time I "won" the UK lottery three times in one week, or the countless emails I have received from some person in Africa trying to claim their inheritance which they will give me half of if I help them, even offered to send an armed guard to my house as an escort, to which I say if you have that kind of connection, call the State Department! They certainly don't need me. But if legitimate companies are using this method, I would like to know so I don't blow them off.

Thanks for the info. I didn't go through with anything. He wanted to send me a check for purchasing a computer program, he said. Things just didn't measure up.

Scam Ads
Apr 21, 2011

just curious... I see the scam ad for belly fat on main screen here now.  This "julie" person does the exact same advertising for several products - same wording.  There's no such person, no such TV station.  If you look closely, top of screen has word ADVERTORIAL on status line.  That is their blanket disclaimer that pretty much means it's all made up, not a factual person or situation.  Just a story.  Why is it on this site? ...

Transform Scam?
Sep 28, 2010

Is anybody else going through this?  Transform used to be a great company, been there for years making good pay, good accounts.  Lately they have just insituted this fancy new "pay" system where our base pay has been decimated but we get to make up some of it up by jumping through all these hoops, like typing more than 1000 lines gets you a percentage increase (percentage of what), using typing keyboard "shortcuts" gets you more crumbs here and there.  In the end we really don ...

It was a get-rich scheme from the very beginning. Brilliant, really. Except that when they championed the offshoring of our work, and the lowering of our wages, they made it so that most MTs with anything between the ears but empty space would question the value of the BOS, the validity of the CMT, and the very existence of this so-called "for-the-MTs" organization. New Pay Scam Vs Old Pay Plan
May 31, 2015

They've been sticking me with 1 "error" just about every other week. That 1 "error" brings my pay down to just about 8 cpl, very close to minimum wage every other week. I got to thinking. With the old pay plan I was getting the quarterly bonus almost every time. That means I had at least 99.5% accuracy for 3 months at a time. So I ran a report on my QA jobs for the past 3 months. My QA accuracy came to 99.6%.  Same accuracy as on the old pay plan, but yet I'm such a bad transcrip ...
