Is Webmedx hiring at all? Experienced acute care MT. - Thanks.

I don't think so. Shouldn't be. Work is VERY low right now. - Webster

They laid off several people just a little while ago as well. Good luck to you!

Does Nuance own Webmedx? Is that the future? - All electronic.

No, Nuance does not own Webmedx. nm - nm

They just went through a huge lay-off - Doubt it very much!

[ In Reply To ..]
.

Huge? My STM told me "abt 25 people" - nm - Out of 700 MTs?

[ In Reply To ..]
Not worried myself.

Remember the "Best in Klas" - CC

[ In Reply To ..]
I recall them mentioning they had about 1000 MTs at the time of the "Best in KLAS" win. Down to around 700?? Hmmm, either there has been a mass exodus or more lay-offs or more fired or all the above. "Houston, I think we have a problem."
Nonsense! NM - Webmedxer

No, not 1000 MTs... - see message
[ In Reply To ..]
...they have about 1000 employees in the company as a whole.
Whew, feel better. Thank you. nm. - CC

Hiring at WMX - anon

[ In Reply To ..]
I just left WMX a week ago. While there I had plenty of work and never ran out unlike a lot of people there. Hw, when they fired my STM (or manager)things when completely wacky with 3 different managers on the accounts I had. All of a sudden I was not comfortable with them, but I did not quit until I had another job which I found within a week. I lucked out because one of my accounts is straight typing. Seems like a great company, small, nice account, but fussy. Been there for 1 week and already getting 98%+ accuracy, although first 2 days got frustrated. Still learning, now have to build speed. I also have 30+ years experience. Pay is comparable to WMX. Jobs are out there with good companies, albeit, probably few and far between.

stm fired? - webbie

[ In Reply To ..]
I had no idea an STM was fired, I read about all of the other lay offs! Any idea what happened or what is going on?? You seemed to be pretty happy before this happened, what could they be thinking?? I am happy with my STM and only rarely run out of work (but I work the 2nd shift) but I am looking for a 2nd job to hedge my bets!

STM - Webber

[ In Reply To ..]
She was my STM as well. I suspect she may have been laid off rather than fired. The STM who took over her large account (flagship account at WMX, I have heard) was the STM for the large account that was lost.

I'm looking for another job as well. Just seems a little too unstable right now and I have been running out of work a lot lately.
It's the instability I dont like - also my STM
[ In Reply To ..]
Actually I believe she was fired. It is unsettling that a good STM who the MTs like gets the ax. Not that the others aren't good too, but I'm afraid it does not engender loyalty in us. But maybe they don't care about that.

I want another pt gig too. I gave up one just before this recent change at WMX thinking things were pretty stable. Dummy me. I wouldn't mind doing fill-in on weekends somewhere.
STM leaving WMX - WMX Anon
[ In Reply To ..]
I was on a large account and was switched to a different account/STM just before WMX lost that very large account. The STM that resigned/was fired was not the one that managed that very large, lost account. It is possible they lost more than one large account, of course.
Account/STM - also my STM
[ In Reply To ..]
STM with very large account got fired. Then her account was given to STM who whose team lost very large account. I am now with that new STM, who is fine. But so was the one that got fired. It makes me nervous.
mt security - webbie
[ In Reply To ..]
I used to feel very secure in my position. I have a lot of experience and always was hired whenever I applied. I have been with Webmedx 3 years and until the recent layoffs, I felt quite secure. I am obviously rethinking this position in view of how easily they seemed to lay off multiple positions, STM, QA, and MTs, without blinking, it seems to me! Several well-established local MTSOs (smaller family run businesses) are going out of business as well. I don't have a lot of long-term hopes for this profession; I am holding on until I get something else lined up (at least I hope I am not fired before I get something lined up!)
A new "nervous" crowd to run with? ...no. No ping. Sorry. - Sigh
[ In Reply To ..]
Come on, now it's "without a blink" even? Somebody just woke up and thought, "I'm bored. Think I'll lay someone off, where're my dice?" Silly stuff. There was a reason for cutting an STM loose, and they're not reasons that apply to MT/editors.

Anyone who works only one account IS theoretically at higher risk of layoff and should push to acquire a couple more. We don't get a lot of layoffs here, though, and that little piece of info will be kept in mind by the sensible.
Excellent post. - no message

There you go again trivializing real concerns. - Suit Alert
[ In Reply To ..]
I seriously doubt that anyone who is smart enough to be an MT thought that for one minute. Quit trying to justify WMX's chicken s**t behavior by trivializing the MTs.
Just trying to balance what appears irrational inflation - of real concerns. It is as bad as it is. No more.
[ In Reply To ..]
BTW, the head of our company said the layoff was of a small number of employees. Whatever number that is exactly, it seems borne out by postings here, all of which I've read carefully for information, though only a very few have offered any.
It is your perception that he/she was a good STM... - see message
[ In Reply To ..]
...and maybe your interactions with your STM were positive, but you were not privy to management/operations, or the reasons he/she was let go.
And you apparently know all the DIRT - Long Time MT
[ In Reply To ..]
You seem to know the scoop, why not enlighten us? Just remember that there are 2 sides to everything and rarely 100% truth in either one. You have to be upper management or you would not know "the reason." Unless of course this was discussed outside of the upper echelon, in which case there is a serious ubreach in ethics at this company. Hmmmmm.
No, I certainly do not know the "scoop" or the "dirt." - see message
[ In Reply To ..]
I was simply responding to the poster that said, "It is unsettling that a good STM who the MTs like gets the ax."

My point was the same as yours - there are 2 sides to every story. Nowhere did I say that I knew the "reason."

Although the OP's opinion was that the STM was "good," we as MTs can't possibly know the reasons that management had for letting the STM go.

WMX STM - anon
[ In Reply To ..]
OK, lets's get clear here. We ALL know who we are talking about. Everyone has their own opinion. Never have I had a manager "always" available as she was. I for one, missed the communication. It also made me not trust WMX any longer and feeling that way I left. I never ran out of work, but never got much feedback from other STMs either. I worked a variety of accounts, so really had 3 different managers. It was time to go!

Experienced, But No Acute Care Experience
Apr 03, 2011

Hi All, I have been a transcriptionist for 10 years, working both in-house and home (currently doing both), but the company I currently work for is going to EMR (and of course, I'm the one setting it up for them) and will be out of a job within the coming months. I have applied and taken tests for various companies and have also had phone interviews over the last year.  Unfortunately I am not offered a position due to "not having enough experience" in the acute care field.  Corr ...

Acute Care?
Sep 23, 2014

As a relative newbie MT, I'm not certain what "acute care" means. Does it mean basically all reports that are from doctors in the hospital setting? That is, would any hospital operative note, hospital progress note, and all discharge summaries be considered "acute care"? I know a clinic note is basically a note by an outpatient doctor, right? And it's basically about more minor medical problems albeit could be chronic rather than "acute." ...
