Has anyone ever worked for Global Info Systems?

I left a month ago. If you want to roll the dice on making $7/hr or $20/hr (and you have no control over which one it will be) go for it.

EVERYBODY gets 5 cpl and some people have pull in lines, some people have none. I had none and no way to make a living there.

Quite a difference from other MT posting here saying she gets - $20-28/hour. How can it be so uneven? NM

The distribution of dictators is not even across the board. As the state here, some pull in lots of lines and are paid for them (I'm lucky to bring in about 1/3 of my lines.)

Some are very poor dictators - whispering, foreign, thinkers, etc. If you have those doctors, you will NOT make $20/hr.

The best transcriptionists in the field see nothing like that in pay anymore...Only the owners and managers of companies. They do not share the wealth, sorry to say.

Some accounts have pull-in lines, MOST don't. I had my own doctor with ZERO pull-in lines, but I helped out with other doctors and most didn't have pull-in lines or very few and with the slow platform I could have typed them as fast as I pulled in the lines.

See the main board MTs making big money. People are over there claiming making big money in this business. As well, today, one of the fb groups members are stating the same thing.
Now, why today in this thread, on the main board, and on fb suddenly do we hear people are making 20 and more an hour when we have not heard that in YEARS.
Why.
A poor girl on the other thread is now upset she went back to school because she did not look hard enough for a company which still pays well.
Are these claims REAL or not. I'd like to know. Because I am seeing several of these discussions just today.
Just seems to me it is clumping up all of a sudden. That's all.

We (those of us who still do well) used to share this information but the negative nellies come out swinging as soon as you admit that MT still works for you.

I made $62k last year. Will likely stay on pace with that this year. I DO work for two companies - GIS is one of them. But it really is a roll of the dice with them as to whether or not you get a good dictator. If you do, good. If you don't, you're screwed and you will make no money. I work part time for them and average $20-25 or so an hour.

The jobs are there. You might have to kiss a lot of frogs and you might have to work a weekend day or split your shift, whatever. If my day job had enough work to keep me busy for 8 hours, I'd be happy as a pig in mud but unfortunately, I can only usually get a good 4-5 hours out of them.

Don't be afraid to try jobs on. Be loyal to the one that loves ya back.

I have one straight typing job, through an MTSO and I make between $20 and $30 per hour. Then, I have a VR job, that I only make around $10 per hour. There is only enough work on the straight typing job to keep me busy a few hours a day, so I definitely can't make that with a 40-hour week.

how much you make at GIS even at 0.05 cpl. On one account I can make $20+/hour if I push it, though it would only last for 1-2 hours then the work would be done; another maybe $12/hour for 3-4 hours, and another only about $7/hour for 2 hours (straight typing), the other two have pulled lines, yes that makes a huge difference. I clear about $800 every two weeks sometimes more, sometimes less, depends how talkative the doctors are. I have no issue with GIS and happy in my situation. As mentioned it just depends on the account/doctor but it is that way everywhere. There are ways around the accounts with no pull in lines, ways to be more efficient, etc to minimize what you type which takes some effort but worth it. For those at GIS who say they make no money, I know you can, and know several MTs who do quite well there. One thing I really like is any work from Friday is not due until Monday by 5pm, so you can take the weekend off if you chose. I have worked every weekend for the last 11 years, so when I don't feel like it I don't have too now. Usually I do out of habit but if I happen to have a lot going on I know I can just take care of the work Monday morning.

I totally agree with the post above. I have one of those considered "horrible" dictators. If you're a good MT, with a little practice, you can come up shortcuts and things to make even the worst dictator okay. My other dictator is one many people would call "a piece of cake." Funny thing about him is that before I took him over they could not keep a steady MT on the account because no one felt it was their job to do so much editing. I guess what one person thinks is great the next person may think is horrible. As far as the supervisors being rude, I NEVER, NEVER, NEVER have thought that. If some of the posters interacted with them the way they interact on here, maybe some of the comments considered rude were justified.

As a Canadian medical transcriptionist working at the largest Health Sciences Centre in my city, I make 20 dollars and 10 cents an hour (but some days I would still like to just "pack it in!" and retire). Other days I love my job =)I have been here seven years and cannot wait for three more years to pass so I can get a small pension and just take it easy!

Need recent info on GIS please. Just been contacted by them for an IC position, straight typing @.05 a line! When I asked why so low, I was informed there is a ton of docs, work and a lot of repetition in the templates, so they feel you are getting a lot of free lines! The statement they posted earlier in MTStars about the Dept of Defense is incorrect. DPTS won the contract. Global is a "subcontractor" of DPTS. Therefore, DPTS is 1 of 4 companies proven, not GIS. Can someone that works or has worked for GIS please explain this to me? I was offered a position for straight typing at GIS. I was told that the pay is only 5 cpl, despite years of experience. I was told by the recruiter that it is 90% template work and my average pay would be 15 cpl and that is why they could only offer the 5 cpl. Is this true? I really need a job, but can't imagine how to make money with 5 cpl. ...

They never give raises and the line count pay is so low it is rediculous. They outsource to India. Lastly the training they provide is nonexistent. Worked for Superior Global Systems out of Texas 2 years ago--hired full-time, benefits, etc. HR said there was tons of work and that soon the real "floodgates would open" and there'd be even more work on a new account for which they were hiring. Ha! There was no work. Period. Supervisor stated there had just been a "lull" in new account work just as I was hired, but it would be resolved shortly...it was resolved all right--after "working" or scrambling/"fighting" with other newly hired fool ...
