vagal? and hypotensive - newmt

Posted: Oct 06, 2010

The patient had an injection.  Dr. states that after the injeciton she became "vagal" and hypotensive.

Is this the right word?

Thanks

If that is what he said, use it. He is probably shortening - the term vasovagal. NM

vagal and hypotensive - Ellie Mae

He is referring to a vasovagal attack, which is something to do with the vagus nerve, which causes someone to faint, get lightheaded, etc. I know because my son used to do this when he was a kid, and a neurologist at the hospital where I worked told us what was happening. Like when a person sees a needle and faints, pain causes it sometimes too.

Thanks so much to the both of you. - newmt
