typing surgical report for incarcerated umbilical hernia repair. S/l "the hernia sac was freed from the umbilical six tracts (or sick tracts)" any ideas are appreciated! Thanks.

If you can afford only one book in your entire reference library for MT, I would purchase Medical Phrase Index by Lorenzini & Lorenzini. I found your word REAL FAST. Everything is cross-referenced. In other words, if you heard the cicatrix, but couldn't quite get umbilical, you would look in the book under cicatrix. It differs from other books in that entire phrases are also cross-referenced.

Nothing like a good ol' book!

Patient has drainage from a C-section scar from 20 years ago. Diagnosis is a likely bacterial infection versus fungus. Treatment with s/l ofloxacin drops 2-3 times daily as well as clotrimazole solution in case of fungal element. Of course, where he says s/l ofloxacin, it is not clear whether or not he's saying the "O" however, the floxacin is clear. Can anyone verify this? Does it make sense to use ofloxacin drops in this way? Or does anyone know of a floxac ...
