One of the accounts I work on is strictly verbatim and does not follow JCAHO dangerous abbreviations, but another one I work on does.

I just had out JCAHO unacceptable abbreviations yesterday and did not see cc as one. Before I came to this board, I had never heard of changing cc to mL. Can you please help me to know where to find this or to understand? I am not being difficult, I really want to understand it. Thank you very much.

this is a copy from the Book of Style Book.
Note: Instead of cc for cubic centimeters, which is on the ISMP list of dangerous abbreviations, use the equivalent mL (milliliter), which is the preferred term.
