There is a basion-dental level of clavicles. Usually they say distal to level of clavicles...guess this radiologist says dental. Orthosupersite.com
No disrespect intended, but is this something your familiar with or just found on internet? - ddd

I have been an x-ray tech for 30 years and have never heard what you just said. The dictionary describes basion as the anterior margin of the foramen magnum, which is in the skull, not even close to the clavicles. I went to that orthosupersite but couldn't confirm.
Please elaborate.
ortho site, not above poster - bips

I am not the person who posted that, but I did see where she got this on that ortho site. At least this is what I found .
The basion-dental interval is measured from the most posterior and inferior aspect of the basion to the superior tip of the odontoid process.
That reference has nothing to do with a trach, more about spine trauma. If you Google baison dental interval you should find that.
I don't know what the OP was hearing. I usually hear something way different.
thank you for the information. I couldn't figure out the relationship - ddd

to the trach placement either. I was familiar with the line, just not any relationship with the original question.
When a doctor dictates for a tracheostomy and says "trach", is it trach or trache? Also, is it okay to type trach or trache, or should you put tracheostomy?
Thanks. ...
"Ongoing tracheostomy with 8 liters of oxygen per the s/l HAG (or HEG) flow by."
I haven't found anything with the "HAG" or "HEG" yet or even anything on a tracheostomy "flow by". He sometimes dictates things backwards and I have to reword quite a bit. ...
Patient has chronic infection around his tracheotomy site, but he dictates it as "chronic Staph infection peri tracheal site."
Should this be hyphenated? Smooshed together? Left seperated as above?
Thanks! ...
A new dictator to me is dictating an tracheostomy. He says, "Incision was carried down through the subcutaneous tissue and s/l platiso muscle using the Bovie." I have googled neck muscles. Maybe I'm not seeing the correct muscle group, but if someone know what this is, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
