This should be Serial Sevens, it is the formal name of a mental status test and should be capitalized as well. The other poster may not know that, it is not the numeral 7.

I would respectively disagree somewhat. I have never seen it capitalized in the literature nor in my two neurobiology textbooks. Further, doesn't "numeral" refer to the written number, i.e., seven rather than 7?

In any case, a serial seven or 7s test is the serially subtracting of the number 7 from a predetermined number. For example, 100-7 = 93; 93-7 = 86; 86-7 = 79; ...

It's obviously to test for concentration. As an example, when I typed this I first typed "86-7 = 99" rather than 79 so I wasn't concentrating.

i'm old school...i don't trust google or any websites, or any online lists of any kind. i trust my good ol' fashioned books, particularly my too-heavy-to-lift Dorland's dictionary.

Steadman's Psych/Neuro/Neurosurg book says "serial 7's (sevens)" so i stand by my original response.

in cases where you're being QA'd (not sure if OP is), it's a lot easier to argue something you get dinged on, if there is absolute proof (from a book) of why you've typed something a certain way. any google search or website can say whatever they'd like; doesn't always make it right.

My computer crashed this weekend and I had to run out and get a whole one. The problem that I am running into is trying to install the Olympus DSS Player Pro v.3.3 on the new computer, and I lost the serial product number in order to register it. The software won't load without this key code. Does anyone have one on hand or have any suggestion? I don't want to go out and buy another one for $200.00 bucks or more since that was what I paid the first time around. ...
