meters per second - mt

How should meters per second be typed, m/sec or m/second within the body of the letter/note. I've done both, but not sure which is correct. TIA
m/sec, you would not expand one and not the other. - NM

[ In Reply To ..]this too often, but since I was taught to abbreviate metric and spell out non-metric units, I would probably spell out "per" instead of using the slash and put the number and "m per second." ??? Anyone else care to weigh in?
