does CBC ever need to be spelled out? - Katherine

If "complete blood count" is actually dictated - in its expanded form

I would type out "complete blood count." Otherwise, CBC is acceptable.

In other words, don't change "CBC" to "complete blood count" unless your client specifically tells you to or the dictator says the complete expanded phrase.

Just read this...and my notes also state never use Acronyms in the IMPRESSION, ASSESSMENT or DIAGNOSIS field. Don't know how much water this holds in the actual MT environment...I'm still green as a gourd and still in MT school (last course). But just wanted to pop this up anyway...I so appreciate every helping me out, so I thot I'd reciprocate. â�º

lab tests spelled in out in impression, diagnosis, procedure lists etc., if it is an accepted acronym that the majority of readers would know the meaning of. However, I have worked for clients that want those things spelled out. So, it is really a client preference.

Hi - Can't seem to find any mention of this in BOS3, but can someone tell me whether I should be using "GI" or "gastrointestinal" in a preoperative diagnosis? I seem to remember in school being told to leave GI as is when in the ROS but seem to be drawing a blank on this one! Thanks in advance!! ...

Here is the sentence CT scan of the head demonstrated a minimally depressed communicated fracture of the left occipital "calvarium." Spell check shows calvarium wrong. Stedmans neuro book doesnt have it..Google shows calvaria, which stedmans shows.. Which is correct please ...
