apropulsive vs. a propulsive gait - ct

Posted: Apr 21, 2011

This is for a podiatrist, not sure if it would be different in another specialty. Dr. dictates what sounds like "apropulsive gait" and I cannot find a true definition for apropulsive other than on podiatry sites. Does anyone know which term should be used? Thanks for your help!

give the whole sentence, please - ALMT

They are not bending but he has got a pretty *apropulsive* gait so I do not think we have to worry about that.

thanks for any help!!!

clarification... - please

"They"are not bending. What is they referring to?

â€Â¢Propulsive gait -- a stooped, rigid posture, with the head and neck bent forward

referring to MPJs - ct

The sentence before he states the MPJs are arthritic.

I can find apropulsive as a term on podiatry sites, without definition though, just used by podiatrists and "terms for podiatry transcriptionists".

Here's what I'd do... - MT2

I have actually found reference in The Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery to apropulsive, so it's obviously a word.

Because you have no way of what he really means, I would leave a blank and let the doctor fill it in.

HTH....
thanks - ct

He does say this every now and then so I should ask him directly but I appreciate the help!

Concerning The Discussion A Few Days Ago About Which Heading Gait Testing Goes Under.
Jun 27, 2015

Gait testing is part of the neurological examination and should therefore go under that heading.  From my perspective, healthcare document integrity should hold sway over account specs or doctor preferences.  Too many doctors think all that matters is what they say or how they interpret what is said, which is total bunk.  If that were true, we would all just start typing melanotic stools every time one of these medical geniuses dictates that because certainly there isn't a do ...
