Weight is 124 and 3/4 pounds - IDK

I don't get this whole weight thing. There are 16 ounces in a pound. How do you transcribe 124 and 3/4 pounds?

When the doc said 212 and a half pounds, I put 212.8 lbs because there are 16 ounces in a pound and half of that would be 8 ounces, but it was changed to 212.5 lbs, which to me says 212 pounds 5 ounces. So, how would you type 124 and 3/4 pounds? TIA!

metric measurements are transcribed in decimal format, but Old English measurements (weight, inches, pounds, etc.) are transcribed in fraction format.

However, if your company, account specs wants weights to be transcribed in decimal format for some reason, then I would type this as 124.75 pounds, which is the same as 124-3/4 pounds, but otherwise, the proper way to transcribe weight is using fractions, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, not 0.25, 0.50 or 0.75.

BUT, it appears that your company specs call for weights to be transcribed in decimal format by what you posted above, so 212 and a half pounds would be expressed as 212.5 pounds in that case.

units and to use fractions with English units. So, 124-3/4 pounds. Your .8 means eight 10ths which is 4/5 and not 1/2. Changing to .5 was correct. If things have changed over the years, we haven't so maybe someone else has more recent information.
