Is it c-myc or c-Myc, or c-MYC translocation? - HELP

Posted: Jan 16, 2010

(Burkitt's lymphoma). I am seeing it spelled different ways and wondering which is correct. Lordy, after 12 years I have managed to avoid oncology for the most part, not one of my favorites, so not very familiar with the terminology, but having fun learning.  Thanx for any help.

I do hem/onc exclusively, so here are a few websites I thought would help you as much as they helped me when I was learning.

http://www.myc-cancer-gene.org/
http://www.cancer.org/docroot/home/index.asp
http://www.cancer.gov/

And for cancer meds, I find this site helpful:

Hope this helps you. Once you get used to the various terms and meds, I think you'll really enjoy it. The field is always changing and bringing in new medications and clinical trials, so it's never, ever boring!

Good luck to you!

These look very helpful. Now I know where to go when I get bored and want to learn more about this specialty. I does not matter how many years in this profession, you are always learning new things, LOL. Thank you for your tips.

A lot of facilities have different preferences, too (SM) - Hem Onc MT

Some places want T1, N1, M0, some want T1N1M0, and yet others want T1 N1 M0. Even with hem/onc there are a lot of client preferences as to how something is transcribed. Some always want R-CHOP abbreviated; some always want it abbreviated, etc.

I think it's really fascinating and once I got the hang of it, it quickly became my favorite specialty.

If I think of any other good research sites I use, I'll post them for you.

Per Stedman's (Endocrinology, 2e, and Oncology, 5e) via Benchmark.

c-myc - HELP

Yes, I saw that in some of the Stedman's books, but with the client being so picky I wanted to make sure as I also found it spelled different ways (with caps) on the internet. Stedman's is not always correct in reference to caps,'s, brand names of instruments (when referencing manufacture's websites), but still a valuable reference that I use daily. Thank you for you response, much appreciated.
