Please! The term is laparoscope - just because the doc speeds through saying it, the term remains the same. This is where the proficient MT earns her stripes - transcribe it correctly, despite what Dr. Mushmouth mumbles!

unless you are required by the client to not use abbreviations.

you may be accused of padding the line count if you don't type verbatim. The client I work for would expect me to type exactly what he dictates with the exception of adding in words such as and/or/but, etc. when he talks too fast. It all depends on what your client wants and expects.

I have heard this before, but I'm drawing a total blank and every way I spell it I keep getting spanish words or names of Saints back (argh)!
