Am I typing this correctly? "His last echo showed an EF of 35% +/- 5."

I would use plus/minus 5, indicating the numbers may be off by 5 points either way. The -/+ look like negative and positive signs which wouldn't fit here, in my opinion, though I think the reader would still know the dictator's intent.
Echocardiogram revealed normal left ventricular function with moderate tricuspid regurgitation. No s/l intramural spondys or sprondys was seen.
