Disinflated or desufflated - MTmom

Posted: Jun 07, 2013

I have a doctor who insists on clearly saying "disinflated" in his op notes.  QA suggests this should be changed to "desufflated".  What are you thoughts?

Does QA say if doc accepts desufflated? I would give him what - he says as long as U do not get demerits. NM

Disinflated sounds like he is letting the air out of a tire. Desufflated is the correct term. If QA instructed you to use that term, go with what QA says. BTW, I don't think I'd let any doctor who wants to disinflate me get anywhere near me :-)

They insufflate to put CO2 in, they desufflate when they take it out...
