I'm working on a new account and one dictator always says "the patient is a xx-year-young male/female." Would you leave as dictated or change to xx-year-old? I have been changing it but just wanted to make sure this was right and I don't get dinged on QA. TIA!

I would has my own QA how they want it handled. - that way no ding. NM

...safer to just type as dictated, you have more of a leg to stand on. Dictator said it, and it's not completely off-the-wall or a misjudgment. If it was off-the-wall or something, then it should be left blank. But it's not. Type as dictated on these types of things, unless you are instructed otherwise.

makes sense. it's his style and is as correct as year "old." - nm

Why have you been changing it? - sm

Don't change dictated words like that! They are using this expression to convey the youthfulness of the patient. It's totally inappropriate for you to overstep your bounds that way.

I would not change. These are his words that he is using for a specific reason as explained by - Jackie

Incorrect to change that - See Msg

It is incorrect and inappropriate as well to change this dictator's style, even if the patient is 95 years old. Leave it be. Since the dictator does it all the time, it's just his/her style of doing things. Probably complimenting the patient for being that age, don't know, but it's not our place to do things like that.
