Transcriber - tired MT

Posted: Mar 14, 2010

I have 1 client left who is still using tapes (will be retiring in a few years and not interested in going digital).  Anyway, my transcriber bit the dust.  I have always gotten my transcriber from OfficeMax, but now they do not carry them in store anymore and I will have to wait a week to 10 days if I ask them to order it.  Cannot afford to wait that long.  Anybody know where I can get another transcriber?  Thanks

You might be able to get one faster if you order it from an online supplier rather than an office store. Some of the companies that supply MTs are used to this sort of thing.

Call the company, explain the situation, and ask if they can overnight the transcriber to you.

If you order one from Amazon tonight or early tomorrow (Sunday/Monday) with overnight shipping, you should receive it on Tuesday. Just be sure you're ordering one that Amazon itself is selling, as opposed to one someone else is selling on Amazon.

Can you tell me what companies supply MTs? I know about Transcription Gear, but I am not looking to pay $500-$600 on a machine for a client who only gives me 2 tapes a week and the only other one is a Sony, which I have heard bad things about. Thanks

Thanks Redpen - I did check on Amazon this morning and found what I needed, don't know why I did not think of this. Thanks for your help.

I was in the same boat. I checked everywhere and did not want to pay the high prices. I finally when with a company from Birmingham Alabama. Dictation Equipment -1-205-951-0688- shipped within a day, no problems with the machine. Great company to deal with. I will use them the next time I need a machine, but hopefully that won't happen.
