Has anyone just walked from their job? - mt

Posted: Jul 09, 2012

I have never hated a job as much as I hate this one.  I've applied at a few other places but I cannot sit here 1 more minute and do this.  I'm about ready to shut it down and walk.  I don't care what other job I find as long as it is not for this company.

Yes, Nuance and they didn't seem to care. - nm

and yep, it's Nunance. What a joke of company.

No kidding. Nuance is a soul crushing experience. - anon

I fantasize about walking away every day, but even the peanuts I make from them are needed to feed my kids.

I want out but I am to the point where I think there is nowhere to go that would be any better. I just want to walk away from the MT biz and never look back.
Well, I just did it. I quit. - mt

I've been taking Xanax for 2 months now and my skin (eczema) is broke out both over the stress of this job. My husband came into my office and said if I hate it that much, just quit. Find something else. Take a week or 2 off to regroup. Yep....that's what I just did. I already feel better.

good for you - still here

good for you. I'm a bit jealous! Wish I could do that, but unfortunately cannot afford to just walk away. Job hunting though, so hopefully soon!
Bravo and good luck. - anon

I can't afford to just quit, but I did just send a few resumes out.

I wish you much luck. I hope there are many more rats about to abandon Nuance's ship. Let them fast track it all to India and see how that works out for them.

Count me in, I'm ready to leave too and it won't be with a notice. I just get this feeling they are in violation of a lot of labor laws!
I know - very irresponsible but my health is worth more. - mt

I'm also lucky my husband has an income. I can't be off too long, but a week or so will be nice. Wish they'd fire me so I could collect UE but oh well.
It is not irresponsible - anon

Nuance treats their employees like we are worthless scum.

You owed them nothing.
Good for you! - Your sanity is worth it!

Your husband is right, take some time to regroup. Everything will be fine! Congrats for making the step!

I just love these posts. I am soon out the door myself. Big question now whether to give notice or just not show up one day?
I didn't give notice. I just quit. s/m - mt

GOOD for you. I had stopped smoking for 2+ years and started when I took this job. Way to much stress for a BIG CUT IN PAY. My husband tells me to quit every Saturday. I think he hates this place more than I do. Were it not for 2 kids in college, I would quit today. I hope you find something more satisfying. Good luck.

Best of luck to everyone who's left or is leaving. Me too - before long. BUT, SM

Leave in good order--not for Nuance, for yourself. Getting even a good-enough job these days can be difficult without creating your own impediments.

Besides, leaving without notice is such a petty, ineffective statement when nobody's listening. How can it hurt a company in an industry where most people don't work their assigned shifts and just not showing up anymore is normal?
