Anyone else have problems getting I9 "signed" by a notary?? - smeeps

Even after explaining what Nuance wanted, they still refused to sign (as instructed in the letter by Nuance). Will Nuance accept scanned photos of SS/License as proof??

You have to get a special form that they will sign. I live in California and they have a form that says you showed the notary your ID. They will NOT sign the actual I9.

I went to one of those mailbox/shipping stores to do it.

Yes,sure did but the "Brown Store" was able to do it; none of the banks or notaries would touch it-- in Texas at that!

Dont work for Nuance, but I had to have one signed - The notary at my Bank did it...sm

Just take in all your info. SS card, ID/driver's license etc. to the notary and they should sign it and stamp it notarized without a problem. Check to see if your bank does it, mine did and only charged me $1.

In some states, California in particular, notaries WILL NOT sign an I9.

Get the special form, Nuance HR should have one they can send you, and they will sign that.

I had the same problem last year but my notary said it was her fault and she didn't read it correctly because it was slightly different and she had signed in wrong place. We just redid it and I emailed it back to them with no problem

It's been a year or so but I was told by someone in Nuance HR to use this form. In fact, she may have sent me a blank copy. The notary fills that form out, signs it, attaches a scanned form of your documents.

The good news if that it's your employer thats on the hook for any and all errors.

DHS requires that an I9 be complete by the employer or authorized agent appointment by the employer. The form should never have a Notary seal on it as it is not a notarial act. The authorized agent needs to complete section 2 using proper ID in the presence of the employee. Sending copies of IDs and having the employer take care of the rest is a huge issue with remote hires.

Gotta question - I work in-house for a group practice that oursources the transcription to a service, then I work as an editor for the final review before the paper copy goes for signature. The paper copies are faxed to the cc list of doctors on that note. The original is then scanned into an EMR, with the paper copy then shredded. I called them today and I am still insured with them. So, unless this is an error on the person I talked to, my next paycheck will have deductions for that insurance in addition to the deductions for the new 2013 Nuance insurances which are through other vendors. Does anyone know about this? Our policies with Colonial should have been cancelled by Nuance. ...
