Willy-nilly CP - PeachyKeen

Why bother having a CP of "no patient names to be transcribed, ever" if you're going to let Doctor Z throw a fit and demand that his notes have the pt name mentioned? And then, "no dashes in reports" but darnit, he wants to use dashes. Then Doctor X wants pt names in his reports.  And wants stacked left, mixed case headings, even though everyone else is capped headings, paragrah form.

So then we get a note saying "Bottom line, type it however he wants it."  Seriously???

Yep. Another of the many reasons I had to say goodbye! - sm

Those requests also change daily. Then you get QA involved who give you a hard time over it all and have to argue it with them as well. There are actually different rules for verbatim on different accounts too as far as dangerous abbreviations. One says verbatim overrides the dangerous stuff and another one says to change it.

These people never tell the customer no, ever. They just make it harder and harder on the MT.

I gave up. I'm not normaly a quitter. This company is a no win situation from all aspects. There is just no getting ahead.

On one account there were 20 dictators listed with different "wants" and "needs." PATHETIC!!!!!

I spent more time combing the account specs than doing my job! Worst job ever! Horrible!

Wow, I feel better! Sorry to vent on you, but I do feel for ya'....

I wish I could quit right now. I am really trying to find another job. I have never, ever worked for a company I disliked so in just about every way. I am the only support of my house. My husband is getting ready to go to hospice. If working here is going to cause a heart attack, I guess I better think seriously about quitting. In my case, it is better to be at home and that cuts a lot of possibilites out. I want to be with him until the end. After that, it will be different as far as my job goes.

Awwww..... (((hugs))) - sm

I know you don't think I was bragging, and I am in a position that I could easily quit, and I agree with all your reasons to stay for the time being. My prayers are with you and your husband! I just couldn't take it anymore....

Yes, you are right about your health and the ill effects you get from all the stress. When my 13 year old daughter said to me "Mom, if you have heartburn and tremors and your physical being is at stake, it's time to quit," I knew I had to get away from it. I have put my family through so much over this job with my venting and being miserable and they have been so supportive. I've been an MT for over 20 years and I'm in my 40s and I have never, ever in all my years experienced the stress that I dealt with at this company.

My hat is off to you and all the other MTs trying to make a go of it! You all are some strong souls, and I envy the strength I see on this board. What a great group of MTs they have, and yet they continue to just beat you down with their constant badgering and acting like this is no big deal when in fact people rely on this income for food, heat, etc. It is just unbelievable to me that a company can be so heartless. I'm stunned! It was definitely an experience I would rather not re-live ever.

Bless you all!

To get positive feedback. You don't know how much that means when all you see is bullying and badgering. I do, however, look for the good ones and you are a good one! I hope your holiday is a good one!

This is why I dont follow the CP anymore - just type verbatim

I cant keep track of the madness, so why bother.

Verbatim they should ALL be! - no name

All of these accounts should be verbatim and M*Modal should say this is how we do it, one way or the highway! That way, M*Modal could actually have their transcriptionists fluctuate from account to account, which means better turnaround time for their customers and also better morale for their employees, right? What a novel idea! When I win the $550 million PowerBall tonight, I will start my own business and that's how I'll run it; like it, or lump it!

When I win the $550 million PowerBall - tonight, I

whenever we humbly request that they not dictate in a wind tunnel, standing in the middle of traffic, at the Superbowl, or underwater.

or - - and this is true -

I had two Indian doctors, husband and wife, who were both dictating in their car at the same time. He was trying to drive. Their (at least 2) kids were in the backseat screaming. Then they stopped for a train. I could hear the chugga chugga, whooo- whooo while trying to decipher their dictation. Worst dictation ever. Hands down. Once I finished his, I had to start on hers.
