Oh-now I get it! MM IS MQ-just hiding. - newbie sm

Posted: Mar 25, 2013

I am fairly new to MM and I had always been under the impression MM bought out MedQuist. But upon doing some research tonight I read how MQ bought MM for a whole lot of money and stock and that Vern came with MQ and then just hid themselves and their poor reputation behind the MM name. Now I am not feeling so comfortable. I came to MM because I had thought it gobbled MQ, as MQ was a company I had always refused to work for due to their shady practices. But MM is MQ....just a wolf in sheep's clothing. Time for me to move on for sure.

This has never been a secret. There is a ton of - info about the rebranding.

I'm just curious what company you think you will work for that's not going to get get swallowed up by either MQ/MM or Nuance. My second job isn't much better than either of these and is a mid-sized company. They are all the same.

I am not looking for another MT job. - newbie

I have given MM my notice and tomorrow I have an interview for a non-MT job.

I agree with you.... - (s/m)

....that MQ took on MM's name because MQ had gotten such a bad reputation. They can spin it any way they want, but that's what I believe.

I, too, had told my husband: "If my company is EVER bought out by Medquist, there's no way I'll be able to accept their job offer." I had done enough research to know that Medquist was NOT a company I felt I could ever be happy working for. If it hadn't been for this MT forum, I would have been oblivious, too, when my smaller company was bought out by M*Modal. Because I had followed things on this site, I was aware that it was one-and-the-same: Medquist. I declined the position and am very glad I did. I'm sorry for your sake that you weren't forewarned, but I wish you the best of luck going forward.

Oh, I should add.... - (s/m)

....it seemed very suspicious to me that the company doing the buying-out would take on the name of the smaller company it was buying if it wasn't because of a desire to "re-brand" their image because of the reputation Medquist had gotten. Like I said--they can spin it as having other reasons, but this is the thing that makes the most sense to me.

Thank you! I put in my notice today. - newbie

Hiding Behind The Computer

I'm willing to bet that if we had to post accurate information regarding ourselves with no aliases, no fake emails, etc that most of these posts wouldn't make it through. It's really easy to criticize and judge others, be mean spirited when someone asks questions or just be a ***** behind the computer. I really think that we should have to 'join' before we post and even post a picture to go along with our legitimate profiles! Lets see how many know-it-alls and hateful p ...

It certainly is not a way to feed your family and take care of business. Do they forget that many of us are single parents with babies to take care of? How is this industry leading? ...
