Speech recognition works well on an individual basis. It is not designed to be effective with an indeterminate number of ever-changing speakers due to variations in pronunciation, accent, speech pattern, etc.
ASR dumb - misery business
[ In Reply To ..]It's a pain, it takes time, but I get genuine results by noting job# with siginifant or potentially dangerous errors I've had 10 dictators removed from ASR in the past month.
I had recently noticed (as I'm sure you all have) that after the latest upgrade the "machine" is making a record number of stupid errors, like it was reset or something!
I was so sick of it I called QA coach, CCM and even escalated it for good measures. They say they ARE AWARE, and are also saying that perhaps since more hospitals are using the ASR that it's getting WORSE!
Whoopee for us. I make it a point to take a few minutes out of the day to bombard them with some of the flat out ridiculous crud that comes through, pointing out that these are DICTATOR and MACHINE effects that are potentially dangerous to the patient.
I'd advise you all to do the same. Send some of those bogus reports right back through and tell your CCM and QA to listen to it and explain to you HOW IN THE WORLD THIS "EXPERT MACHINE" could be so STUPID!!!!
As ASR continues to get dumber, maybe now would be - a good time to consider unionizing SR editors.

I am an experienced MT but need some help; haven't had to test for a long time. I was given the opportunity to test for a company and got the sound file up but the foot pedal will not stop/go the sound. Second problem is that when I move to another page to create a document, I lose the sound feature/box. (was trying to use word pad or email as I do not have Word on my machine.)
