JUST GOING TO RIDE IT OUT - LOST IN PARADISE

Posted: Mar 12, 2014

With approximately 5000 MTs and only 60 positions for coding not very likely I would get selected anyway.  I went through health information school 32 years ago and sat for and passed the ART (RHIT) test at that time.  Over the years, I let that accreditation go unfortunately.  I am just going to ride this sinking ship down to hell where it has been taking us for a long time.  I am too old and in too much pain to even think about coding.  I did it for the first 2 years out of school and liked it, but MT has always been my preference.  I have friends that are coders and they tell me it is extremely stressful too.  I just cannot take any more of this.  I cannot stand on my feet for 8 hours either.  I will just have to get UE and then hopefully apply for SSI Disability.  Come what may MModal.  I am not afraid anymore.

I'm with you. I'm very suspicious of the Coding program for one simple reason: They are leaving out the KEY component - what they will pay the employees after training.

I've said recently in quite a few posts that I'm sticking with MT/MME for the duration, whether it be only a few weeks or a couple more years, so you and I will probably be the ones to turn the lights out at the end. :)

The one thing that has changed for me since the bankruptcy announcement is that I'm no longer going to kill myself for their ridiculous 99.7% quality requirement. Over the past few months I've lost sleep over the stress of the Audits, I've kept a dozen or so client profiles open on my desktop all day and skimmed every detail before I start, and again before I send in my report, trying to catch every ridiculous hidden detail of every ridiculous client profile and it has driven me almost to the brink because I still hover at 99.5%. I'm not doing it anymore. I'm going to do MY OWN personal best on every report, take REASONABLE TIME to go over the client profile and give my personal ALL to this job during my shift but I won't be obsessing anymore about achieving the unachievable goal of perfection.

To ME, 99.5% accuracy is about as good as they can reasonably ask their employees to give with consistency and for many other companies, it's considered exemplary. If my 99.5% accuracy rating isn't good enough and they let me go for that reason, then at least I'll be leaving with my sanity intact.

I hope you get your SSI disability - sm

People like to tell horror stories of someone getting turned down for disability, but everyone I know who has applied for it got it right away and retroactively. Good luck.

We should all get a class action disability - for PTSD.

Lol. Anyway, I'm there with you. Riding the MM Titanic to the bottom. Only have 2 years left to work.

I do have a tip for you - sm

Sometimes it hurts your case if you were collecting UE until it ran out and then went for disability. They might look at it as say, why were you looking for work (which you are supposedly doing while collecting UE) if you were disabled? Just a thought. Might want to see what a lawyer thinks. Good luck.

YOU ARE PROBABLY CORRECT - LOST IN PARADISE

You are probably correct about the rules to get disability. I have 2 rare diseases and a couple of other very painful issues. I really cannot afford to make it on what disability would pay right now anyway, but as another poster said, I will just have to ride the MM Titantic to the bottom along with a lot of other folks unfortunately. I wish everyone luck. Hard to tell what is going to happen. If MM cannot get credit due to bankruptcy, not sure how long they will be viable. Competition in speech recognition is very tight anyway.

Roller Coaster Ride To Get Out Of MT
Feb 29, 2012

It sure is an up-and-down ride of emotions when trying to get a new job.  I've been applying for jobs outside of MT since November.  You go on this ride up while you're applying, thinking how good the job looks, thinking you will receive a call within a couple days, and knowing that you can do it...but then you slowly take a ride down after weeks of not hearing anything.  All of a sudden, the ride starts to go back up when you get that call for an interview.  While ...
