I'm outta here! - Anna Rose

Posted: Jan 28, 2012

Just wanted y'all to know that I lasted all of 4-1/2 months with this company.  I've been in this business for 30+ years and have never, ever worked where things were as crazy as they are at MedQuist.  Good luck to all who are successful as employees here.  For me, I'm outta here!!  Life is just too short to put up with their crap.

Good job, leave 'em behind if they're that bad. If you don't mind me asking, what were the main issues with them? When I started out, they wouldn't hire me and I felt slighted; perhaps this was in fact a blessing? Lol

consider it a blessing for sure!! - tadpole

I was hired and got frostbitten feet... - AnaPhylaxis

I was hired for a radiology account although I had been doing acute care and multispecialty clinic for the past few years (I do have lots of Rad experience, though). I was really excited as the pay per report was pretty decent and all the bells and whistles with the benefits after having been without benefits for so long. Also, the schedule was perfect for me. I was SO excited.

I don't know what happened, though. The day my equipment arrived I got a lump in my throat and those butterflies in my stomach suddenly turned to stones, lol! I was supposed to start training the following week and my excitement at the prospect just totally disappeared. I don't know...perhaps women's intuition or gut instinct?

Anyway, I came up with an excuse about a family emergency preventing me from taking the position, sent back the equipment and never looked back. I've found going with my intuition always seems to work the best and, shortly after this transpired, the pay cuts across the board for all of their MTs was announced, along with revoking the nightshift differential, etc.

I ended up finding the "perfect fit" for me with a small, more personal MTSO and have (so far) lived happily ever after, but I totally understand those who go through a similar experience. I had never regretted accepting a job offer, nor had my jubiliation turn to cold shudders of anticipatory fear, until the MQ offer.

Just look on it as you possibly dodged a major bullet when you didn't hear back from them, LOL!

Good luck to you! I lasted 14 years with Medquist and the last 6 were pure hell. I am now a 9-1-1 operator/police dispatcher and couldn't be happier or more excited. I say good riddance to Medquist who started out as a good company and ended up treating their employees like peons.

I know what you mean....I spent 16-1/2 years with Medquist....it was an awesome company to work for back then and now things have gone downhill..I gave my 2 week notice and would you believe it toom my CCM 1-1/2 weeks to respond? Shows how much I was valued! I'm so glad to be free! :)

I'd do cartwheels for your new job, lol! - AnaPhylaxis

Did you randomly apply for a city position when you landed that peach of a job? I'd LOVE to do what you're doing, so I'd be very interested in knowing how and where you applied. TIA!!!

I just saw the ad in my local newspaper and applied. Out of 550 apps, they hired 11. Rigorous background check, but SO worth it. I look forward to going to work every day now! Just check with your city. Good luck! I live in South Texas, btw.

I'm Outta Here, And I Won't Be Back After The Snowflakes Leave.
Dec 06, 2012

I think the straw that broke this camel's back was when someone suggested those of us with legitimate medical issues regarding the snowflakes leave until January. I believe the specific quotation was something like "See ya!" Well, no you won't. I had hoped to be able to contribute to the community and to develop some friendships on this board when I joined up, but I am taking the hint that I am unwelcome. Despite the low pay, I love what I do. Because I love what I do a ...

YAY!!!! I'M OFFICIALLY OUTTA HERE - You Have No Idea How Good This Feels.

Hey Everyone! Yesterday was my last day with the Evil Q.  I've had a non-MT job for a couple of months and I was finally assured it will be permanent and I gave notice.  I've been with the Q for 10 years.  Like everyone, I saw my paychecks dwindling and could no longer make a living, nor could I afford more of MedQuist's "experiments" at my expense.  I saw the writing on the wall years ago and did nothing because of a fear of leaving and thinking things ...
