Hey MM, where is my invite - oldtimer

Posted: Mar 13, 2014

How soon after you sent your resume did you get an invite to take the test?  I sent mine on late Tuesday and no invite yet.  I have a CPC-A and am having a hard time finding a coding job without experience.  Need a couple years of coding experience before anyone else will even consider hiring me and will also be able to get the A off my credentials.

I wonder if our age has anything to do with - sm

being selected or not? If they're looking for younger ones who will be working for decades to come, or if that figures into the selection process. I would think if they're in a hurry to get people up and running, us older ones with decades of experience who've heard it all by now would be the best bet, but it seems like a lot of tier 2's are being chosen. I'm really curious how they are choosing.

Yikes, - oldtimer

you may be right. I have 12 years to go before retirement yet though. Been doing transcription for 33 years with the last 2 with MModal after outsourcing. Also I am a tier 3. I put on my resume that I have a CPC-A, maybe they don't want anyone who knows anything at all about coding!

you could be right about that. If the codes are new they may want - a clean slate, sorry to say

Wouldn't that be just silly.. - oldtimer

The CPT codes will not have changed that much even with ICD-10 coming out. I have some ICD-10 training and have taken an A and P course through AAPC also. Good luck whoever takes the test and is chosen to do the program.
I would think your experience would definitely help you. - nm

Most of these companies seem to view experience - as some kind of a "threat". NM

Received my invite - txmt

I am 67, part-time, Tier 2 and just received my invite. I am not sure if this clarifies what they are looking for other than being in good standing. If I succeed, coding would be my third career.
That's odd, I thought it said only for full-timers? - nm

I too have taken classes recently and have my CPC-A and am scheduled for the CCS in 2 months, which will be with ICD-10 coding. I took a 2-month course for the ICD-10 and am studying. I have not received an invite to test either. I am in my 50s and wonder too if this is not a factor??

I do not think it is that they want a "clean slate" as the structure and basic rules are the same as ICD-9 with a few rule exceptions. There are many more codes and greater specificity but you still follow the same procedures to code.

So for fun I looked at M*Modal's website for jobs for coders, and they want 5 years' experience! I am not sure what is up with this. I do know that in 2012 they stopped offering CCS exams (and I believe also CCA) in India due to widespread cheating, and I do not believe they have resumed yet. This would be of benefit to US! Anyway, I just want to wish everyone good luck. I have found a part-time job already in coding and will soon be leaving. The experience is HUGE so if anyone is wondering about whether or not to do this, it would be helpful in securing a job outside of M*Modal after the 2 years, as long as you study and take the CPC and CCA. The CCS can be taken with experience if their course does not meet their criteria (which I doubt if it is only 3 months).

I'm older than you and received the link - NM

to test so I don't think age is a factor...

Guess I will have to be more patient - oldtimer

and keep waiting - deadline for the test is not until the 17th so have a few days left.

Did you receive the "link" or the invite - sm

I received the invite the same day and info about the link that will be coming soon.. I believe they are taking applications until the 17th, so after that is when I'm expecting to see the link, etc.

Just received the invite and like a ittle while ago. thanks for all the responses - good luck to those taking the test.

My take from the email was that - SM

anyone who sent in a resume/work history would be able to test. I didn't get the sense they would be picking and choosing who could test unless you are on performance management or not in good standing with MM. By the way, I sent my resume in Tuesday evening and have also heard nothing yet.

me too... tuesday evening - they dont want me

I sent my resume in mid-morning on Tuesday and I'm just now hearing back from them this morning (Thursday). I was starting to lose hope too and thought I wouldn't hear from them but now I think they are just sending out invites based on when they receive your resume.

Don't lose hope, I think everyone who shows interest gets to test. :)

I figure I've never won any of their other contests, so not holding - my breath on this either ;) NM

Postcard From Transcend....anybody Here Get An Invite To Apply
Jul 10, 2011

About a week or so ago I got a postcard in the mail, inviting me to apply at Transcend. Is this a good place to work? I won't say what company I work for now but it's much talked about here and it's the pits to work for. So, is Transcend any better?  Anybody have any input on this?  I did go to the website on the postcard they sent me (it was a personalized web addy that contained my name) and filled out a short questionnaire about my experience, etc., and they said som ...

Blanket Invite To Send Resume
Jun 16, 2014

I was checking my private e-mail's today and had an e-mail from a person who didn't give their full name but stated in essence that they need transcriptionists and if interested to send in her my resume with no other information at all.  This sounds kind of off to me.  Why wouldn't you identify yourself and what company you represent? ...
