Anyone else having trouble sleeping?  I have tried Melatonin, per my doctor.  Any advice?

I've had it for years - Snow Bunny

take 6 mg of melatonin with one Benadryl and see if that helps. If not, talk to your doctor 'cause there could be an underlying reason like obstructive sleep apnea or even depression.

First try walking until you're too tired to keep going, then add/or alternate with cycling/aerobics. Be sure to drink lots of fluids though. This really does take away the insomnia. Also, makes you feel better. I was not sleeping, worrying about finding new job and how bills will be paid making $7.25/hr. Exercise works wonders for me though.

Swim! I swim 7 days a week. No more sleep problems. - sm

I started swimming due to severe arthritis. We have a community pool open 7 days a week. Now I swim a mile a day and then get in the hot pool for 30 min to an hour. Don't miss a day.

Weekdays I can swim at night and then go to bed soon after getting home. Weekends, I have to take a nap when I get home. LOL

Find a pool and swim!

Sometimes new meds will do this, i.e., statins, etc. Warm bath, Benadryl, boring magazine, no distrations. It's a horrible feeling. Last night nothing worked, swore I did not sleep for one minute! I can empathize, quit statins but still have problems, Benadryl will not work if taken every night, have to skip once in awhile.

I use Tylenol PM. I tablet puts me out! - n/m - Zircon

I use blue blocker glasses and it helps a lot - Kippersmum

I have SAD and sleepness nights, especially in the summer with short nights/darkness, but I use blue spectrum blocking glasses to reset/avoid interruption of melatonin cycle and they work.

Check out lowbluelights.com

It is just as important to have bright light during the day to stop the melatonin production and then use the glasses at night (I also use the light bulbs and blue-blocker screen for the TV, but mine is a severe case.)

The blue blocking glasses, light bulbs, and screens stop the blue spectrum light from interrupting the production of melatonin. Hope this helps.

Night Schedule Sleeping

Just started a new job (this will be my second full week) and I am working Sun-Thurs 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.   I actually have work all night and no NJA screen popping up.  My problem is I start to fad about 4 hours in and hard to stay awake.  Anyone working this shift or 11-7 or whatever, when did you sleep?  I go right to be at 6 a.m. and can sleep about 6 hours (that is about all I slept when I worked the day shift and had no problem).  I have tried taking a nap before ...
