That makes me kinda sad and scared, I work on VA accounts, and although I don't have access to the patient files, the reports I do seem to be in order... Makes you wonder though!!

VA Benefits vs VA Medical Care - Veteran

[ In Reply To ..]
You transcribe for VHA, the division of the VA that provides medical care. The division mentioned in the article is VBA, the division that handles veterans benefits like home loans, funds for education and training, and that decides service-connection claims for injuries and illnesses.

It's not always clear to the general public that these two divisions are completely different. The fact that the awful story in the article talks about medical conditions makes it seem that someone at a hospital wrote this letter to the patient, but that's not the case. It was written by a claims processor whose job it was to see if evidence had been provided and ask for it if it had not. This guy attached a list of covered conditions and did not provide evidence to support at least one of them.

This veteran enclosed a list of covered conditions, one of which didn't fit his gender. My guess is that this veteran complains and argues about everything that VA office does, and they just decided to get him to state that menstrual difficulties were not something he was claiming to prevent later complaints that he claimed it and it wasn't considered. They don't know, after all, if HE knew what it was--lots of people don't--and they can't just assume that he knew and therefore wouldn't claim it, and they also can't be certain that he hadn't been a female when he served in the Gulf.

The VA that you transcribe for provides some of the best healthcare in the world. The articles about THAT are in healthcare journals and awards citations, and they're not scandalous, so the general public rarely hears about them.

Even VHA medical employees have difficulty getting their claims processed by the VBA.

Major Snafu With DQS7 Install
May 18, 2012

Back from vacation.  Logged into the new 7 version - would not work.  Tried a few times.  Called Support.  1-1/2 hours - no luck - they will contact Advanced Support.  Will try again tomorrow.  They estimate it will take 2-3 hours to fix it. Meanwhile CCM instructed to do straight typing on version 6.  Like heaven - the old days. Anyone else have this experience ?  TIA !  TGIF !    ...
