Tumor registry - Erin

I was wondering if anyone has a background in what I have always called Tumor Registry? I have been an MT for 30+ years, and have been around Tumor Registrars my entire professional life so I have a pretty good idea of the position but just in the hospital setting. With all the changes happening in the MT industry, Tumor Registry has come across my path several times lately, just at the time I was thinking about this as my second career. When I was a young MT I always thought it would be a really depressing job, then later found myself working in Radiation Oncology for several years and that experience changed my attitude towards quite a few professions.

I am just really starting to explore this as a career. I am wondering if anyone has a background in this or can just give me some positive (or negative) feedback. If it is a field that I would be considered a newbie with all the ramifications that go with that; no experience, no work, etc., etc.

Thanks so much for reading this post. I am really looking for somewhere where I will fit in a future which is kind of scary after all these years making a great living being an MT and now wondering if I will have a job next week.

With your MT and Radiation Oncology background, tumor registry might be a good fit for you. I do know that the job requires education plus certification, similar to coding, I think some community colleges have programs. Some people work on site and others have consulting jobs where they travel to other facilities. I don't know how much of a demand there is for TR though.

Dictated "CEA was elevated at 29, CA 15.3 at 1938, and CA 27.29 was elevated at the outset at 2243." My questions are regarding the CA 15.3 of "1938" and the CA 27.29 of "2243." Should they be "19.38" and "22.43" or "1938" and "2243"? When I'm googling the reference ranges for CA 15.3, a value of 19.38 doesn't seem to be elevated; neither does a value of 22.43 for CA 27.29. But.. 1938 and 2243 seem awfully high. Can someone please help me with this? Thanks!!! ...

Any help is appreciated. I'm stuck on 2 words. 1. Sagittal T1-weighted images were followed by axial proton density and T2-weighted images. I just got a flier in the mail from AHIMA about becoming a CTR or Certified Cancer Tumor Registrar. I have never heard of this and so my curioisty is piqued. My question is could this be another career or is it another way AHIMA is trying to get money out of us?
