I have a friend who works at a local hospital and she told me that they are about to start outsourcing their central scheduling department. She said it is a U.S. based company that will be answering calls, scheduling tests, etc. She also said that they have already begun outsourcing the discharge followups and surveys. It is bad for the hospital, as they are losing staff, but I guess it could be good for MTs who just don't want to leave their home. Maybe they could work for the company answering calls, scheduling, etc. She said that the companies like to hire people with "medical experience" to hold these positions. I wonder what the pay would be though. I did find a couple of companies online that do that, but haven't applied YET. It seems the future of work will be mostly from home, the way many customer service positions are at home now.
