Robot MT - MTC

Does anyone else feel like a robot? I am asking because I am so stressed out. I work 6 sometimes 7 days a week and could not tell you the last time I had a full weekend, or day off. I am so burned out that it is not funny. I find myself getting foggy headed and can't even listen any more which makes me go back over my work. I was told today that more work is coming and I need to be ready. I never complain about work and don't turn it down because I could really use the money. On the other hand, I am straight typing at 0.05/line and 0.06/line and doing all my own corrections, etc. (I realize that that is part of it), but feel like I am totally taken advantage of. I am putting out 1,500 lines a day, every day. How am I supposed to get more work out? I am going as fast as I can, sitting all day, taking no breaks, no lunch, no calls, no anything that does not relate to getting the work out. I was informed that up I could not keep up, then my job would be gone as the account would be let go and I would have no job. I always meet a 24 hour turnaround time, even when work is put in overnight. This is my first job, so my confidence is low, and I think my boss knows that. I just feel like screaming and sit and cry all day while trying to work stressed out. I can't quit as it is really too close to Christmas, let alone, my family depends on my income. Anyone else feel this way? (I did not edit this as I am too tired)...

You now have some work experience, so there's no need to stay stuck there. Your current job will destroy your physical health (sounds like your mental health is already affectec) if you stay in it.
There are jobs paying up to 8 CPL. Go for it! Update your resume and put it out there.
Good luck!

They are really taking advantage of you. 5 and 6 cpl straight typing is the lowest I have EVER heard of. My last job was 6 for VR, and my current one is 5. You have experience now, so at least start testing with other companies, it wouldn't hurt.

Since you do have a job, just try to hang on til after Christmas and then begin your New Year with a new employer! You could easily be making 8/cpl and someone with your get-up-and-go is what good employers are looking for! Good luck to you!
If you're putting out the required line count, that's all they can expect - it is not up to you and you, sm

alone to ensure that your company does not lose an account. Most companies required 1200 lines a day for full time, so it sounds like you are pulling your own load. Let your employer know that you are already doing what is required and what you can do. Hopefully you work for a company who will listen. I would start talking to someone first, and then takes the necessary steps if not satisfied.
On another, sadder note - so pitiful that...

8 cpl is considered a good rate these days!

No one can exploit you without your consent. Why are you working for such a low cpl?

In response to Old Pro, this is my first MT job. I know that doesn't give anyone the right to walk on me, but I find myself just trying to get experience in. Most places want at least 2 years, and I am almost there. I am holding out until after Thanksgiving when my (unpaid) vacation arrives. Then I am off to testing like there is no tomorrow. I finally realize my worth and if my boss doesn't see that, well he can do it all by himself.

Good for you! I think you have a wise plan. It might be that hiring won't really gear up again until January (December is notoriously slow in the MT world) but you could get lucky in December, too! I like your attitude, and if I were still in the biz, I would hire you myself! Good luck!

Lecturing Robot Aug 24, 2011Jeez what an EXHAUSTING call! Called tech support as had dowloaded "cool timer" to try "destiny isn't free's" great idea and it was not compatible with my PC and was causing lagging and slowing so had to uninstall it. Will just use an alarm clock as the 1/2 hr. segments idea is a great one. Anyway, this robotic voice answered the call, asked me for my number and then lectured me about installing this program. I had to fight to speak in a normal human tone ...
Robot Message Jul 09, 2012Why get so bent out of shape? Simply call the number posted on the MM website and ask to be removed. With all the acqusitions lately it's hard to keep track. I cam eon with EMT and wass till receiving recruting calls because I had applied with MQ years ago. Relax, pick up the phone and ask to be removed. Although annoying there is nothing "illegal" about these calls. ...
