How often do you upgrade Stedman's spellchecker? - KYMT#2

I was just wondering how often other MT's upgrade their references, particularly Stedman's Spellchecker? I have the 2007 edition, and am wondering if I should upgrade? What about other references, like Quick Look Drug Book?

If you upgrade within 2 years, it's only $49. I just upgraded my 2008 to 2010 for $49. - Wise.MT

I could not work without Stedman's Plus Spellchecker, Quick Look Drug Book, and my Shortcut expander. Sorry you missed the 2-year limit for the reduction in price for update, but it is still worth it to get all the new words. I received my Quick Look Drug Book CD, but the Spellchecker Plus is not out yet for 2010. On the Lippincott Williams & Wilkins home page there is a coupon for 15% off any purchase if you give them your e-mail. I signed up with my Wise.MT e-mail, no problem. Then I printed out the coupon with the number for the discount, called and ordered my CDs and gave them the discount number. At least you could save the 15%.

I have Stedman's Spellchecker and I have never received an auto reminder or email letting me know it's time to upgrade. Every other program on my computer, I've gotten a reminder. How odd.

I think I first heard about the 2-year renewal discount when I called Williams and Wilkins Customer Service to get help installing a couple of my CDs to my new laptop. The Customer Service Rep is the one who brought it up. Like I wrote above, the 2010 Spellchecker is not out yet, but it was promised by February of 2010, so hope it comes soon. The wild card lookup on the spellchecker is what I really like about it. The Quick Look Drug Book is easy to use, doesn't make you open a zillion windows just to get to a little box to enter your word. Instead, you click the desktop icon and it is ready to go. Also, all the prescribing dosages are right there on the first listing you see, and my "old ears" sometimes need help deciding if the doc is saying 15 or 50.

Both the programs let you block, copy, and paste. Great useful software.

One platform I work on I can't get to the Internet to use Google, etc. I keep the Stedman's and Quick Look on the desktop and they don't conflict.

I also have a laptop sitting to the left of my desktop computer, and I run a Word document there. For the program where I can't use the Internet, I can pop a word in there and it tells me right away if it exists, and that is a start.

I am truly sorry when any other MT misses out on a good deal like the 2-year discount, but once you update, you can always use it from then on.

Sign up for that 15% coupon I mentioned in my message above, I don't see any expiration date on it.

Oh you do pay tax and shipping with Stedman's, but it is not as high as some.

I am thinking of buying/downloading Stedman's Spellchecker but had a question and wondered if anyone here can help me out. They have Spellchecker Plus for $99.95 and also Spellchecker Plus for $39.95. It looks as though the latter might be an update, but the descriptions are basically the same. I have the 2006 version of Stedman's Medical/Pharmaceutical Spellchecker Plus and out of the blue it just stopped working. Does anyone know what would cause this? I can't even find it anywhere on my computer???? I tried to reload it from the disc but that would not load...can't live without it that's for sure. Using Word 2007. Installed Stedmans Spellchecker 2010 . Test shows the speller is working. Upon spell checking document it does not allow me to add words to the dictionary. That option is grayed out. I've followed instructions found online to correct this in Word but that does not solve the problem. I had EditScript downloaded to my PC , but have not used it yet. I wonder if EditScript disabled this feature in Word? ...

Can anybody suggest an inexpensive medical spellchecker program? I started with a new company and I did not have spellcheck, so I ordered it and it was quite expensive for the 2010 one. Now I found out that when I am in their program they are using their own. This has really ticked me off because I was TOLD that I needed to download a spellchecker and now I cannot send it back because I have downloaded it.
