Here's a questionnaire - Snow Bunny

Posted: Oct 23, 2009

From the following items, list from "most important" to "least important" your personal preferences:
1.   Line rate (straight transcription, not VR).
2.   Direct debit.
3.   Good dictators (can be ESLs, but you don't have too much difficulty with them).
4.   Medical benefitis (i.e. health insurance).
5.   Paid time off.
6.   Platform is easy to learn and use.
7.   Required lines per day/shift.
8.   Willingness of company to hire new MTs (up to 1 year of experience).
9.   Support, cooperation, organization of people working for service.
10. IC or Employee status (in-house or statutory).
11.  A gift for the holidays or during MT Week.
12.  Company provides equipment.
13.  Consistent amount of work on days you are available (IOW, you would like 700 lines per day for 5 days a week (3500 lines per week), every day, rather than 200 lines one day, 400 lines the next, nothing for 2 days, and the remaining 2900 on the last day).
14.  Control of your line count (i.e. Sylcount) rather than service telling you the # of lines you will be paid for (their calcu lations).

Please feel free to add anything else that I left out

I only have one - a company that pays me for what I actually type and doesn't cheat me out of lines from every single one of my reports. :-(

Going back to getting paid for gross lines and every character!! Remember the good ole days.

I think you have pretty well covered almost everything. Loved the "DREAM" list. May be we should ask Santa this year!!!

OK here I go - 7DayMT

One more thing I would add is flexible scheduling. Nice if they allow a split shift or a time window.
Also not too much micromanaging.

1. Work available and plenty of it.
2. Line rate.
3. Good platform.

(these 3 things I consider the most important for how much money I can make).

4. Direct deposit (I don't drive and need my money right away).
5. Support/cooperation, organization.
6. Good dictators (I have only worked on 1 or 2 accounts where the dictators were so bad I hated the account and could not make money on it).
7. PTO.
8. IC/employee. I prefer employee because I don't like to figure out my own taxes but I would consider IC because of the more flexible schedule.
9. Health insurance. I get my medical insurance elsewhere but do like a good vision/dental plan.
10. Equipment provided. I would rather use my own these days but it's nice to have theirs too - so if anything goes wrong they will replace it.
11. Required lines. If I did only the required lines at almost any company, I would not make enough money.
12. Whether they hire new MTs.
13. Gift.
14. Control of line count.

3 more things - 7DayMT

not on the top of the list, but somewhere in the middle:
Friendly, helpful and consistent QA staff
Nice technical support department

And high up on the list - an interesting variety of work to transcribe.

I'd be interested to hear what you are planning to do with the information you gather from this questionnaire. Thanks.
