CECs for CMT, sm - LL

Posted: Jul 22, 2011

I am not a member of AHDI, nor do I intend to become a member, but I do have my CMT credential and I am trying to seek out CECs, at a affordable cost. The required core areas of MT Tools and Technology in the Workplace seem to be the hardest to find. By not being able to obtain more than 10 from a single source it narrows it down a bit. Just wondering where other CMTs, who are not members of AHDI, find their continuing ed credits. Thanks.

I attend the webinars that Omniscribe offers. Their website is omniscribeonline.com. They offer several webinars a month at $20 each, and they have lots of archived webinars for $10 each.

Magazines from AHDI, Plexus and Matrix I believe they are, have creditworthy articles. Maybe an AHDI member would offer you their older magazines or copies of needed articles affordably.

I am in the same situation you are in. If you go to AHDI's website, you can find the recredentialing guide there and they have some resources listed in that guide. You can get free CECs at free cme dot com. Another thing I have discovered recently (I'm sure I'm way behind the times) are OpenCourseWare courses from places like MIT. Maybe you could submit an approval form to see if any of these courses would be approved for CECs? You could get the technology component filled easily with those and they are free. You could also see if you could get copies of Plexus or Matrix at your library for the articles with CECs.

Thanks,sm - LL

Thanks for the feedback. Cathy, I will look at the OpenCourseWare course and see if that is a possibility. OmniScribe is great, and affordable, but you can only get 10 from a single source. The CMEs from websites like Discovery.com, MyCME.com, MedScapeCME.com, etc. are awesome, but these are mainly for CM and the optionals areas. I'm getting my ML from OmniScribe, so that leaves the MT Tools and Tech & Workplace. Thanks again for the help. I didn't think to put feelers out for old copies of Plexus and Matrix, as I'm not a member I do not get these. So, might give this a try too.

Do you know about this - Michelle

Don't know what you feel is affordable, but have you checked out this site?

Thank you Michelle for this website, this is very affordable. I asked someone at AHDI a number of times about webinars and was never given this site. They gave me the site for SE-AHDI, which has nothing and never responded to my email request. Just one of the reasons I don't waste my money on being a member. Thanks again.

Andrews Coding/CMT CECs Question
May 06, 2012

I just spent a few hours getting some CECs for my CMT and it got me thinking. Does anyone know if the coding program at Andrews could be used for my CMT CECs? I apologize if this has been discussed in the past. I tried to search the archives but came up with nothing. Thank you for any input! ...
