Best school to get online bacherlor's in RHIA besides WGU? - whichschool

Which school (that offers the program online) is the best to get an RHIA besides Western Governor's University? I'm not interested in going there.
Do you have any college yet? - sm

The programs are all very much the same. They have to include the same material required for CAHIIM accreditation.
If you have no college at all, you should start in an HIT program at a 2-year community college. With that, you can at least get the RHIT and start working sooner.
San Juan College in Farmington, NM, is very inexpensive, so try that.
Avoid for-profits. You do not want to spend 30 or 40k on this.
Just curious about why WGU doesn't appeal to you. Informatics might seem intimidating, but that is the way HIM is going.
Yes, some college - whichschool

I have some college, but not very much. I looked over the WGU website, and it's just not the school for me.
Fair enough - sm

If your reasoning is that you want to sit in lectures and have that "college experience," good luck! The majority of programs have their classes online, with little to no instructor and even less student interaction. They are not "more structured," either.
If that is what you are looking for, check the programs out very carefully.
I'm a former MT who has been in school working towards AA in HIT and will sit for my RHIT this winter. I am considering contiuing my education and getting my bachelor's degree and going for the RHIA, but is it worth it? I currently work in medical records and when I get my RHIT I will be a coder where I work. Two more years of school just seems daunting and exhausting to me, but then I wonder if RHIA would be a good career move. Any thoughts? ...
I am just curious. Is there a big difference between online coding classes and going into school? I feel (I am taking online course) that maybe going into the classroom would be most beneficial. ...
I'm seriously considering enrolling at one of the "top two" MT online schools. I'm good at English grammar, spelling, type over 100 wpm with 98% accuracy, a perfectionist, and am also very focused. I do have a full-time job, but can easily devote evenings and time on the weekends to complete the course. I'm up for a challenge, but after doing quite a bit of research, this sounds really difficult. Feedback please! ...
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone here is going back to school for something else, but taking classes online. I need to find a good online school as we only have one vehicle and my husband is using it to commute back and forth to work in another city. If you are going back to school, what are you going for?
Thanks ...
I've been searching for an online MT school that has a good rep among Mt's and MT employers for been a good school with a good training. So far I have on the list CareerStep, M-Tec, and Andrews.
Please, any opinions and advice about these schools (or any other I don't know about), negative and positive, would be soooo welcome since I'm having a hard time choosing a school. I would not like to waste my money on a school with a poor training and not known ...
Can anyone please tell me which online coding school is the one to go to. I have been in transcription for the past 10 years and I am literally terrified about what is going on with this business. I still need something at home because I have little ones still running around. I know coding is very hard to get into but so was transcription when I first started so I am willing to make the transition. I was literally in tears yesterday when it was the 4th consecutive day wit ...
Currently hold Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. Worked as executive admin asst for past 15 years. Considering going to Andrews on line MT school. Is this a good investment and career change for me or should I look into something else? Like the ability to possibly work from home. Also, which school is best choice for finding work at home job (Andrews, Career Step, Mtec, etc..)??? ...
Has anyone heard of this online school? They say the are one of the best and have most job placement with the big MT employers. Can anyone tell me anything about this school. I know they all say they are the best. Is there something in particular that I should look for in a school as far as their teaching techniques? I read something about SUM, is this the best teaching program out there? ...
I'm searching everywhere on web for info on the best recommended schools for Medical Transcription. Canscribe is said to be 'one of the best', however it's soooo expensive. Does anyone know a few other good schools recommended by AHDI ?

ok so i really need some help. I want to be a mt but i'm having a hard time finding an online school to go to. Just when i think i've picked one, i see a bunch of bad reviews for it or that it isn't really accredited. Also, i was wondering if you really get paid as much as it says on the internet.. ...
would I need a Bachelor's degree in something else. I have seen this as a qualification on some jobs. To be honest, I am not sure what jobs would be open to me if I had an RHIA. Any help and/or direction is greatly appreciated. Thanks. ...
Hi,
I am thinking of getting a bachelor's degree in Health Information Management and becoming a certified RHIA. I was wondering if anyone currently working as a RHIA can tell me:
1) Is it hard to find a job after you finish school and get certified?
2) About how much money can you expect to make?
Hi,

Has anyone here gone through WGU and become a RHIA? I am currently a RHIT, but I'm thinking of furthering my education. I really like computers and technology and I think this looks like a good program. I just wonder if RHIA is worth it because I see a lot of jobs require either RHIT or RHIA. ...
I can't stand this industry and what it has become. I am sick of making peanuts for thoughtless people. I will hold on to my job while I have to but I signed up to go back and finish my Bachelor's degree so I can become an RHIA and get into coding or corporate. I need more open doors. I have an A.A.S. in HIT but that hasn't opened many doors. ...
So, I'm confused and could use some advice. I am in an accredited HIT program all online to receive my AA degree and sit for the RHIT. I have just two semesters left to complete the program. I am very unhappy with the education I have received, and I am not sure I could even pass the RHIT. I am considering quitting this program and enrolling in a bachelor program where I can sit for the RHIA (it's a healthcare informatics degree through WGU). I am wonderin ...
I am thinking about going into health informatics. I've been looking at the program through WGU. Through their program, you complete your CCA credential before graduation. You would also qualify for your RHIA certification when you graduate. They state that a CCS or CCA credential will satisfy the coding courses in the program. Would it be better to do the coding portion of the informatics degree through a program that prepares you to pass the CCS and CPC (like Andrews) or would you know ad ...
I learned yesterday that the TSU post baccaulaureate certificate requires only 15 hours. Wow. I can't stop thinking about it. I'm going to see if I can get accepted (yes I live in Texas). ...
I am a current MT and am looking to start the transition to coding/HIM. I already have a bachelor's degree in business. I know I would like to work in hospital coding, at least initially, so I want a very good foundation in coding. This always leads me to Andrews school, as I definitely want to obtain the CCS to help my prospects.
However, I am also open to other possible opportunities in HIM, and it seems that an HIM degree/RHIT or RHIA would be beneficial to have in tha ...
I was wondering if anyone has ever gone through Allied School in California for billing & coding. If so, how was your experience? Were you able to find work in coding after finishing the course and getting your certification? I have been a medical transcriptionist for the past 10-11 years and am now looking at getting into coding. My best friend and I are going to take a course together. If you wouldn't recommend Allied as a school, who would you reco ...
I am an MT who is considering going to school for coding. I am thinking about taking the course through Andrews and will probably start next year because I will have to save up some of the money. I am wondering if you think coding may eventually go the way of medical transcription and be outsourced to India. I do not think it will so I just wanted to get the opinions of other coders. I realize it will be a hard course but I think it will be worth the effort. Any thoughts would be appre ...
i have a question for working mt's. i have decided that i want to get into the mt field and try to work from home if at all possible, while raising a family. i was going to look into doing an online course and i'm just not sure which "school" would be a good choice. it seems that its so hard to find out which school is actually legit. i know there are some schools that are supported by the adhi and accp. and im not sure if "at home" jobs are actually obtainable to ...
of any good online education for this alone? I see AHIMA has one. I am looking for others. AHIMA's online courses don't suit me. I suppose it would look good on a resume, but I want to LEARN it well. So if anyone has come across a good online course in ICD-10-PCS, please post. Thank you! ...
Here's something that might be useful to you all who have library cards with your own local library. I'm not sure if all libraries are connected to netlibrary.com, but mine is.
Here's the thing:
http://www.netlibrary.com
I went there and signed up by using my local library card. There are a ton of books, in both ebook (pdf) format as well as available for audio download (free). You can search by subject, author, etc., For instance, when I put "start a business ...
