It was a great job while it lasted. Had a feeling with all the OOW lately that this was going to happen. On to better things.

I'm on 2 accounts and except for the week of labor day (Sun/Mon) where I was short a few hours, I have had a steady 8 hours a day, and it's been like that for a year or two. It probably depends on what side you are on Escription or Dictaphone and what accounts you are on. And why on earth would they lay you off, if they need hands for their new big account? To the OP, have you asked to be cross trained for the new account?

So who can you blame? They are a bad company and going down the tubes. I can predict they will be bought out either by Nuance or Imedx or just shut down altogether.

they were a good company but I suppose they are just like all the rest - when the profits start to drop the heads start to roll.

The original post is bullpucky. They probably just wanted to - get rid of her and used that as the reason.

We all know that companies use this all the time as a convenient "reason" for a termination. They use it because it's almost impossible to dispute.

As far as I can see, TTS seems to be increasing their workforce, not reducing it.

You are very cruel. You would not have the courage to say that to someone's face. No one knows the motivations of this employer; it is silly to speculate.

I have only been there just over a month. Wonder if there is any particular order to who gets canned?

My guess is that I'm an IC so easier to let go - than an employee.

It sounds like they are thinning out the ICs. I hope you are an employee. Don't worry. Put in your hours, do your required lines, and keep your QA scores high and you should be okay. I hate post like this that churn the rumor mill.

I feel really badly for those who are getting pinks.

There will always be rumor mills, and sometimes it pays to listen to them. Hopefully, this is just that...a rumor.

I have run out of work occasionally but for the past week or so almost continuous. Lots left over tonight when I finished my shift.

Sure they didn't just want to dump YOU and used that reason? They have - have plenty of work as far as I can see.

Unless you have personal knowledge that there's going to be some massive issuance of pink slips by TTS, kindly don't spread rumors that cause people to be uneasy about their jobs. We don't need that on top of all the other issues we deal with in this business!

Never below 99.8 and my lph is always above 300. The only thing that has changed is the work available. Frequent oow for the past 2 weeks following months of extra work available. Just one of the pitfalls of IC work.

I wonder if we'd be used to train the speech rec program then we would be OOW constantly.

Yes, I know, recruiters tell you anything just to get you hired whether there's work or not, and make it sound good even if it sucks.

They all put sugar on sh*t and call it chocolate cake to get you to accept it.

who is an IC stated they were let go and panic ensues. You'd think that pink slips were flying all over town. Calm down people. To the poster above, I would pay no mind to all the wild speculating that is going on. If you are offered a good deal, take it. Since I started 3 years ago, I have trained 3 account for SR, and then did the SR on those accounts. I still work on 2 of them. Because TTS MTs did the training, the SR is almost flawless with minimal editing.

I am only on one account with them. I am an IC. Never ever out of work and in fact most days get notice stating if I want to work more to please do because they have so much work. Even over holidays I did not run out. My LPH fluctuates and sometimes it is good and sometimes not, just depends on the amount of ESL doctors I get. Never been reprimanded about it. Only if I make a critical error (which thankfully was only once) then was I even talked to.

Believe what you want. Everything with MTSOs right now is a 'crap shoot' and we all know it. You can have a good account that has longevity and you can be put on an account which does not. When the contract runs out, things change. TTS did advertise that the 2 new accounts would only last 90 days. They are subcontracted by Nuance. Once the VR gets trained and you are used, there is no work for you and your account maybe will be one of those that they send overseas because the MTSO profits. And even though TTS does not outsource, we all know that Nuance does. I do not believe to this day that any MTSO has told their workers the truth...but TTS was up front on their ad months ago that their one account acquired (ABMC/SAMC) was a new account acquired and those 2 have gone with Nuance. So no need to bash the poster who is concerned about her life and career...so we thought it was a career.

No, I don't believe in bashing anyone on this site. However, at TTS, as with any other company... if you do not meet your goal lines per hour, or you do not keep you QA score up, they will get rid of you. Perhaps, the OP had some of those issues going on. I have never been OOW for very long with my accounts. If you are OOW, I know they will cross train on other accounts, but only if you meet their QA and line per hour requirements, and you work your schedule.

OP, I wish you luck and hope you find something that fits.
