Something else shoved on us - Transcender-MDI

Posted: Apr 29, 2010

It is now mandatory that we purchase the WPD to the tune of $41 with no help from Transcend and no  paycheck deduction, but rather a check in the mail to them.  That directory changes more often during the year than a honeycomb has bees.  I stopped buying it when MDI paid towards it and it was $25 then.  Now, we HAVE to buy it?

Good grief!  What will be next?  Frown  I know what it will be--me accepting the job offer I was thinking about.  No more thinking; I am going!!  Laughing

You are seeing Transcend's - RLee

true colors bleeding through - they do not look out for the MTs in way, shape, or form.  I am glad you are using your "thinking" cap and moving on.  No doublt other MTs will follow you steps when the right opportunity knocks for them.  Good luck.  Wink

The Washington Physician Directory does not have to be bought. This is only an option and actually you can use google and find the same information.

Good for you! The unbridled greed of Transcend is apalling. Don't buy into it. I hope you get a great new job elsewhere.

What's the WPD. I haven't heard about this. (sm) - Transcender MDIr too

What account are you on, and do you think this is account specific or company wide? You don't have to post it here, but if you feel comfortable you can email me. TY.

I got the e/m, it is acct specific, and OPTIONAL - sm

unless I am sorely mistaken. It said to let them know IF YOU WANTED IT. Doesn't sound mandatory to me. and if it is or becomes so, it is a tax deduction still. It might be aggravating, but it is NOT that big a deal. Boy if you guys take wings every time you don't like a little something, you'll be in the air a lot!! p.s. You had best think twice, as it is a really tough job market out there.

Washington Physicians Directory - Former MDI-Transcender
[ In Reply To ..]
I quit weeks ago but I still get emails. Why does that not surprise me. Anyway, the one I got today does indicate that a certain ROM that I cannot give the name of here indicated that this is mandatory reference material for all on private and clinic accounts. I, too, never found it very helpful because the addresses changed like the wind.

Whew, am I ever glad to be working for a super great company! The tale of Transcend just keeps getting worse!
Now we know - Transcender

Now that we know the account, we know who the ROM is. The same one I have and she's the worst! I loved Transcend until I was put in this group. I sure wish they would get rid of this one. I worked for MDI as well (both at the same time) and I loved it there as well and miss the professionalism of my supervisor there.

Perhaps this was the last straw for that MT. I know that you can take only so many straws piling up and suddenly you have a barn full! That is when I finally jumped ship to a company that is small, considerate, and fun to work for. I am off direct QA and was given a raise. If the WPD was her last straw, then it did her a favor!!

This is a very dangerous practice and potential HIPAA violation - sm

It is very dangerous to rely on a 3rd party directory for physician names and addresses.

With HIPAA HITECH, the MT can be fined and/or sued if a cc goes to the wrong physician and in using a directory like this, how can you be 100% sure that you have the correct physician at the correct address for the cc? What if the physician misspoke or misprounounces the name? What if the physician's office has moved in the last week?

There is absolutely no way to be 100% sure of the correct physician and address unless you have access to the patient's actual medical record, which I don't, so I'm sorry, but I am just not willing to take a chance like this.

If Transcend wants to take chances with HIPAA HITECH, then that's their preogative I guess. But me? Sorry, I wouldn't do it.

Even if Transcend "requires" it, if the cc does end up going to the wrong physician, who do you think is going to bear the brunt of the error. It's going to fall into the lap of the MT.

I would be pending with a message to please verify the correct doctor on the CC - IAMT

on each and every one of these if I was not sure. If the dictator gave the first and last name and address of the clinic, I would send it through. Just a CYA policy.

An MT was just fired from her job - for this very same thing

Check the MQ board because MQ evidently just fired one of their long-time MTs because of a cc going to the wrong physician (sound-alike names, ESL doctor if I understood correctly).

And personally, I find it very feasible that Transcend would probably do something like this too. Because it sounds to me like Transcend wants you to utilize a "physician's directory" so YOU (the MT) is the one who is taking the chance with the HIPAA HITECH violation.

On a cc, if the dictator does not spell the physician's full name AND give the physician's full mailing address, then I would be very hesitant to assume or even make an educated guess on my end, even if I only see one "Steven Jones, MD" on the physician list.

I simply have no way of knowing. The dictator might mean Stephen Jones, M.D. or might mean Steven Jones who is in the next city or even in a different state across the country.

And when push comes to shove, if that cc goes to the incorrect physician, it will more than likely be blamed on the MT. I am very doubtful that Transcend or MQ (or any company for that matter) is going take that responsibility and they're going to blame the MT each and every time.

I say, LET em sue me! I have nothing. There is - nothing left to lose. If they want - sm

to sue me they can, but they still won't get anything. Let them send me to jail. At least I'll get a roof over my head and 3 squares a day - something I won't have much longer, if I stay in this rip-off field.

Yea, that bites big time, sm - done and gone!

First a pay cut, if part-time no benefits, they make us learn a new platform, and then they make you pay for items that they require to do the job. I draw the line there too. I quit already and have never been happier. The benefits are all for them. The CEOs raking in that much money and we have to pay for physcian directories? Take a new job, I bet you will be glad you did! I am.

R U sure? - md

The email I got did not say you had to buy it - it said it was available and to let your TL know if you wanted to purchase it...

Depends on account. - used to be there

[ In Reply To ..]
I think for some accounts because of clinics it is likely now mandatory. I had to have it for a clinic I did reports for, but MDI always provided it. For others it was optional, but if you do any clinics, you are required to look up the addressee, ccs, etc.

Love Working Here, But Being Shoved Out Of My Job.
Jun 12, 2013

I feel I am being pushed out of my job.  I love working for this company, but after a disagreement with my supervisor my QA scores dropped, I was taken off accounts, my queue in the account I had left was cut in half.  As I said, I like this company and don't want to go anywhere else, but has anyone else experienced the same thing and, if so, how did you deal or get through it? ...
