a company by the name of dtsok (Digital Transcription in Oklahoma). If so, what do you think of the platform they use? It is called SpeechMotion (supposed to be similar to Chartnet). I just started working there and now I wonder how an MT can produce enough lines to make it worth her while. It seems rather involved and lots of steps to go through to complete a report. Am I wrong? Should I stick with it before I am really familiar with this platform or should I jump ship without even giving it a try? Would love to hear frm others that work or have worked on this platform. I am so tired of all these "supposedly wonderful" platforms that make it impossible to make a living. Thanks for your input.

and it stinks. I posed this question not too long ago and an MT answered me. She also works for the MTSO that owns Chartnet and she has also worked on MModal. The SpeechMotion/Chartnet platform is based on the MModal platform. She said it really has nothing to do with Chartnet. The REAL Chartnet is a fantastic platform and is very, very productive. I hate the SpeechMotion platfom. I cannot see how anyone can get any speed on this platform due to the ctl+N headers. Shorthand doesn't work very well with it either. There must be some super, duper salespeople out there selling these lousy platforms.

That's what Keystrokes is training on as they OWN Chartnet. MQ owns M*Modal - Scarythoughts

I know KS is now implementing VR with M*Modal and they bought ChartNet from Hudson Systems. Makes me wonder how the 2 systems how joined into one, as they are owned by the two different companies.

ChartNet is a great program by itself, but I have heard horror stories about M*Modal from peers. Good Luck!

It gets even more confusing. I work for another MTSO that uses ChartNet through Keystrokes and M*Mo - confused

I know that Keystrokes owns Chartnet, and my boss knows that and we use Chartnet through them. But now we use M*Modal too through Chartnet. I prefer just Chartnet, M*Modal is HORRIBLE.

I know that a lot of MTSOs use Chartnet and a lot use M*Modal but not all Chartnet users use M*Modal and not M*Modal users use Chartnet. How does that work?

I have worked for 3 companies that sold and 2 of them had a lot of family and friends. You find that in many companies. My husband works for a company that has more family than nonfamily working there, and my parents used to own a family business. It really doesn't matter, does it?

I would not split it with my family either if it was my company. Why should they be entitled to anything? I wouldn't, and haven't in the past when a family member sold a business that I worked for, expect anything. It was just a job for me and I was lucky to have worked for people I knew and enjoyed being around.

I don't understand this post. If you worked for a family member or friend and they sold their business, transcription or other, would expect something?

Never said friends would get any. Friends, what friends - meant to suggest friends forgotten in this. nm

Just because MQ is after Keystrokes doesn't mean that Keystrokes is selling. I think that the owner has her sights on being bigger, that's why they are buying so many companies themselves.

I personally hope Keystrokes doesn't sell; I left MQ for K and have never been happier!

Anyone familiar with M*Modal? I was able to complete part of their testing and still working on the dictation part of the test. Figured I better check them out before I go to all the trouble of completing the test. I think I saw they were related to Medquist, but not sure. Those of you who are familiar with Bayscribe, did you find: The spell check dictionary is void of many common words? It also does not detect uncapped words at the beginning of sentences or spacing issues. The word expander locks up for periods of time so cannot create new expansions. It has horrible quirks that cause expansions not to work correctly (they just don't expand) , capital letters show up in the middle of sentences and do not cap where they are supposed to, and extra ...
