I don't know if it is all right or not, as it could be a specific client preference. BOS on the matter states: mg Abbreviation for milligram.
Do not use periods.
Do not add s for plural.
Space between the numeral and the abbreviation.
5 mg
Do not use fractions with metric units of measure.
5.5 mg not 51⁄2 mg
