In most situations there are going to be metrics in regard to coding a certain number of charts per day. It makes sense because it has an impact on revenue cycle and the facility depends on timely oaynent. I don't think it's anything new and really should not be a surprise to anyone who does medical coding. There is added pressure because even unintentional errors are fraud; the stakes are much higher in coding than they are in MT.
